2008 AMPS International Convention
WW2 Victory Museum, Auburn , Indiana

An announcement from the Executive Board

Hopefully all of you are busy building models, figures and dioramas for the 2007 International Convention with the theme: "Fish Tanks". While our experienced crew attends to details for the show in Maryland, the Executive Board has also been laying the ground work for the show in 2008. We excited to announce that the WW2 Victory Museum in Auburn, Indiana has been chosen for the venue for the 2008 AMPS International Convention. The dates will be Thursday, April 24 through Saturday, April 26, 2008.

The WW2 Victory Museum combines an excellent museum with an expansive convention space. For more information, go to their homepage: http://www.wwiivictory.org.

A more detailed announcement and presentation will be made at the Annual General Membership meeting on April 21, 2007 in Havre de Grace.

Until that time, general questions can be addressed to Roy Chow directly: [email protected].

That is GREAT news. Auburn is only an hour and a half north of here.

In case anyone is wondering where Auburn is...

http://www.google.com/maps?q=Auburn%2C%20IN%2046706

Rather centrally located between Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit and Cleveland.

Cheers,
Jim

That may be a bridge to far for me. But that's at least two years away and things can change between now and then.

We just bought a house, so I doubt I'll be in Aberdeen next year, but the Auburn trip in '08 looks do-able. Bottom line: the east coast is too expensive, too far and too ... east coast. I made it to the Ohio show and I'll definitely make it to the Indiana show. It will make for cheaper eats, sleeps and gas, but the vendor room wil still be filled with fun and bargains (plus, I might have a chance to build something by then).

Aberdeen yes , after a 10 hour drive that Friday night counting the traffic in the greater NYC area and a near complete disregard for the speed limit -Except in Deleware...I have not missed but one in the last 7 years, and that due to grad school commitments.

But Ohio was at the absolute outer limit of the driving distance, even with 3 guys and a personal day. And I'm not flying with models for a short weekend

Looks like 08 is out for me.

I'd better get something done for 07 then, huh? :-)
