VERY interesting, mate!
Thanks for sharing with us, Rudi!
I have made a few attempts (some successful, some NOT so successful ) at my own PE, and this service could prove to be a very valuable resource for many.

Seems rather expensive but I guess if you really want custom etched parts, this would be the way to go.

Hi,

it is actually me behind the website for etching

Is it really expensive?
Think of it different way - if you want to prepare e.g. 10x15 cm plate, you must get the metal plate, of course in bigger size. You must buy chemicals and you will use them once or twice a year, finally you must spend some time to prepare the CAD drawing, and finally etch it. All in all it will be hours. Now, if you get someone to clean your house or garden, or plumber, how much do you pay such guy per hour? :-)

Of course bigger manfacturers sell etched plates for 10-15 euros, but those are made in 1000s for specific sets! My idea to etch for others came up from the need that I was looking for someone to etch something for me, and could not find.

On top of everything. Prices I gave on the site, are very generic. Simply ask me in mail how much would something cost, and we will agree on something.
Recently for instance I made nice railing posts for tug from Billing Boats 'Smit Rotterdam' for 20 euro, as originals for the set were crappy to say the least. And the person is happy now.

Best regards
Jerzy

Railings for 'Smit Rotterdam'

Generic plates I did for Modellbaumess in Vienna last week (plates before cutting):

So if you need some help, let me know.

Cheers

This is very very very interesting!

My suggestion is: ammochutes for 1/35 helicopters (I know this is a figure site). I had to get a whole PE set only for the 7.62 ammochutes of the Blackhawks Miniguns.

This is a great service. These types of services www.etchingservice.eu and www.printapart.com really hit a great niche.

If you need that 'certain part' that doesn't exist this gives it to you.

It may appear to be expensive however, as mentioned, breaking it down to its components and time it breaks even or is only marginally more expensive.

This is great and if anyone has used this process feel free to do a review similar to the one I did on the printing version.
