any one have anything to help with the scale size of the 280mm atomic cannon?

scale drawings (in any scale) would be wonderful) i've found tons of images and some films online..like...

www.youtube.com

just type atomic cannon in the search window on the site and click the one the says johnny cash atomic cannon...nice 5 min film.

anyways, this is going to be my project for the scartchbuilder's campaign and a drawing or two will really help me.

thanks people...

Paul, I completly missed those. You made a great series of photos. Thanks.

The one thing about yours and all other walk arounds i have found though....it would be great if a measure stick was also in the photographs to help with scale. A stick painted with alternating black and white 1foot markings. Lets say a ten foot pole. You get what i'm saying, right?

Many thanks for the images...i'll dl them and prints out a complete set and bind them into the reference book i'm making.

Are you going to build one? Whats the location of this gun?

thanks again bro,

kevin

Unfortunately I was in Kansas on business and did not bring a reference stick. : )

The cannon is located on Freedom Hill which is South across the highway from the East entrance to Ft. Riley, KS.

I got the pictures because I was contemplating working on a partially completed Renwal kit of the atomic cannon I had picked up in a hobby shop in Austin. But I sold it.

Yeah the cannon is on top of the hill there. Pretty decent climb, but the view is great from there; you can see the Army airfield and one of the motor pools opposite the interstate. I have a couple of photos of it too, so I'll see if I can get them posted. To my knowledge there is one at Ft. Sill OK, and another at Aberdeen, though since the Ordnance Museum moved, I'm not sure if that one is still there...but how would you move such a thing...so who knows?

IDK if that proposed move has happened yet.......... not to mention it'd take a heck of a long time to et all that moved.
