Hi all,
While sitting here pondering my next course of action after cocking up (again) on the latest build and staring blankly at my "stash" , I got to wondering - how many others regularly step over that fineline of modification vs scratchbuild vs insanity ? .

When using the term 'scratchbuild' I'm referring to 70%+ of a vehicle or aircraft or ship or whathaveyou.

Anyways just a thought, while I decide whether to forge ahead anyway (fix cock-up later) or return subject to the 'recycling bin' and consider a different project.

Edit. I also have 3 kits - 1 for scaling up + 2 to cannabalise.

Funny --was sitting here the other day wondering how many of us (nut /basket cases) there are on here .....never seems to be much of a response when "scratchy" posts appear -----is there a fear of scratch -building around --or --is it easier to pop the glue in the box and shake it :-) ...yeah!!---ok!!---exagerated :-) :-)
What we need is a "SCRATCH BUILDERS CAMPAIGN"-----and then we can get the Scatchbuilders Forum buzzing ......not just questions that are asked repeatedly (and IMHO the wrong forum ) over and over again
My trumpet has now been blown--------and yes I AM BIASED....the time and effort spent in research and building ( may take years)is more than a "boxy-build "even with all the "Jazzy "bits thrown in ......so its now up you "scratchers" ---come "out of the workshop "and be counted :-) :-) :-)
Any way ---back into the "workshop" and see what other wierdies I can find to scare people with

Ok...

I love the challenge of creating yer own details vs. buying AM parts. I got a great model train shop just down the street from my work stock full of Evergreen and Plasti struct. I don't know if this is considered 70%, but Here's my latest (ongoing) project, A Dragon T-34/85 in 1/72 with full engine bay and interior!










and this is one I finished last year in 1/35: T-34 recovery/repair tractor

Now there's an idea... I'm about a 5-10 percenter, but if there was an 80%+ scratch campaign, I'd step up to the abyss and plunge right in saying that the water's fine...

I'm a part time "Scrathy" as in if I want something a wee bit different I'll have a go.
At the moment I'm scratching the complete bridge for my 1/35th Churchill AVRE which is a big step for me but I've got the advantage of having the Master Of The "DARKSIDE" BARV as my dad
Even so looked out lots of pics just to be right and a wee supply of plastic from dad to help :-)

Hello every one
I like scratch building and detailing. I have always been amazed by the quantity that Steve does and all the other scratch builders on this site and other sites. I scratch build from 25% to 100% but never find the interest to put the paint on the models because I keep going back and adding more detail as I come across detailed pictures of the vehicle. I do not know how to post pictures here. If you want to see my work go to my gallery and my web page. http://www3.sympatico.ca/dangeloc/page_01.htm The projects that I'm working on now are LVTP5-H1 howitzer, LVTP5-R1 recovery, LVTP5-XX1 with Duster twin 40 turret and Mine Exploder T1E1. These days I find my self doing more research on the computer than building.
With so much building and scratch building these days on all the sites that I visit, I find my self guilty of not complementing everyone that posts their amazing work on these sites.

I'm getting there......... maybe not quite 70% but i have a few that are close to 50%

Here's an "oldie" that might qualify me as somewhat of a scratchbuilder. This is a T-34-76 interior I did for an upcoming Osprey release.

I'm also a scratchbuilder, but have done mainly civvy vehicles. I would love to see a scratchbuilt campaign, if you'd include everything.

Most of my work is scratch build or a combination of scratch/kit bash.

I also do a bit of "bashing and scratching" (they have a cream for that, don't they?).

A scratch Bofors and gun tub on a U.S. halftrack:



About 80% of this Su-76 is scratch. The base kit was the Alan kit. No wonder it was called the "Suka" (Russian for "female dog").



This CCKW 352 required a lot of surgery and a bit of scratch building.



A current project, the T-30. Lots of work to do yet.

It been awhile since I've really scratchbuild anything, but here is what I have done in the past.





And this 1/12 scale AV-8A Harrier ejection seat.



And a few other...oh, I also would like to see a Scratchbuilder Campaign.

Not even close to even 50%, but encouraged seeing the work of Charles King (Ti), Murdo, Barv, Erick67, etc..... I´m falling into the Dark Side.... ...besides, since I mostly build chilean subjects, most of the time I have to modified a lot the available kits.

Ok it's not Armor! But I'm currently scratchbuilding a Bugatti 100P racer in 1/48 scale (it's the plane on my User Signature picture).









I didn't worked on it since a few month and would also welcome a Scratchbuild Campaign as it would make a nice motivation... if "wingy thingy" are allowed of course

Hey everyone, I'm really impressed.

I never did more than like 20% of scratch built parts on a vehicle, but a scratchbuilding campaign would be great.
I'm sure that campaign could make me start a 70%+ scratch project.
