Hi propboy, I plan on buying the shaker myself. Modelers that I know who do own the Paint Shaker give it a big " THUMBS UP ! ". There was a thread on this last month here at ArmoramA , which modelers who own the paint shaker gave it " high praise " once again. I really look forward to buying mine. Squadron has ( electric110volt ) HOBBY PAINT SHAKER by Robart for $29.96. The product number is PCR411 It's the same exact one that MicroMark sell's for $37.
HERE's THE LINK: http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=PCR411

Works good for me. Also use the CORDLESS MIXER FOR MODEL PAINTS

http://www.dxmarket.com/micromark/products/80975.html

Both work very well.

I always thought paint mixers were a frivolous expense, but I decided to get a cordless one like the one in M1's post. I cannot believe I went years without one. I say buy one now.

I have got one of those shakers. Initially mine didn't work all that well so I returned it and got another one. For the most part it works fine but I do find myslef having to pre-shake (by hand) some of my paints (mostly Vallejo) as they are very concentrated. Once I do that and load them into the shaker then the paint gets mixed pretty well.

I have a couple of friends who told me that paint stirers were the only way to go. They use a dremel tool, or a cordless screwdriver, with a simple "L" shaped attachment, and swear by it. It prompted me to get one like M1garand shows, and it works great. I would recommend something like that highly.

Beautiful, Matt, that would be great. I would highly recommend that anyone thinking of getting the paint shaker hold off until you see what Matt comes up with. I have been amazed at the well mixed, smooth consistancy I get my paints with the stirer, and how it improves the results of airbrushing, as well as hand brushing.

Hey, kind of "Bondish", isn't it? ...Make mine stired, not shaken...

Anyone with a dremel or even a cordless drill or cordless screwdriver......save your money.....just get a bit to go in your dremel, screwdriver, drill, and use that......would be alot cheaper than buying that!!!

I dunno... call me an old fuddy-duddy or a cheap ba$tard if you want, but I prefer to stir my paints by hand. If worse came to worse, I'd stick something in in the chuck of my Dremel Tool and do it that way. It might take a little longer to do by hand, but that's when I've got my references out and in front of me looking at the 'next step'.

I prefer stirred and not shaken. I'm in no hurry.

I have had my micro-mark paint shaker for the past 15 years and it still works as good as it did when I bought it. :-)

The dremel might be just a bit too fast!

I almost bought the cordless paint mixer at the local hobbytown tonight, it was only $10. If it works that well, it's worth $10 easy.
