If its a clear matt coat that you are looking for, the best one i've used is by the Gunze range. This is available in most LHS in NZ. Just ask the store owner....unfortunately i cant seem to find the item code, will have to wait until i get home.

Hi Matt
Do you mean Humbrol Dull Cote?
I assume you mean Humbrol Dull Cote its available most good LHS but must be used with a 50/50 thinner.
I am sure Acorn in Christchurch would stock it.
I have found the Gunze range whilst good it is difficult to find on a reliable basis.
Regards
Sean

I assume he means testors dullcoat that is often refered to in articles on modelling in american mags like FSM.
Testors paints are generally quite hard to come by in NZ. The mattest stuff I've come accross here is humbrol number 49 (I think) Matt varnish. Very, very flat.

Hi Matt
I think there is plenty of assistance here but it would be best if you fully and specifically explain exactly what products you are using and what procedures/steps you are going to be taking for decaling, weathering etc.so a definitive answer can be provided.

Humbrol 49 matt varnish is an enamel. The only caution with it is too stir it very well, then test a bit of it out first. It can dry white, has happended to me once with an old tin. It shouldn't be a problem with a new tin, but now I always check first!

Hi Matt
What product are you going to use for your Gloss coat/s?
You have enquired about Future before is that you are going to use?
Phils advice is very apt in fact I have taken it a stage further and I have built a Tamiya Halftrack as a test dumby to solely trial/test gloss coats, washes, drybrushing, decalling and flat coats etc.

Hi Matt
Ok in answer to your question "humbrol varish is the same as dull cote and it wont react with humbrol enamels should it." if the enamels are sealed by the Future then it should not affect them.
Following on from Phils gretat advice test a bit on a non visible unimportant part like under the tank or on a test dummy like I am for peace of mind.

i went ahead and bought it to day.very gooey at the bottom so i stirred it and used the stuff on the top.came up pretty good but quite toxic,it took off most of my weathering but that would be because i was using a brush.
