Information Release.

Due to the nature of the quality of driving in England the Department
of Transport has now devised a new scheme in order to identify poor
drivers and give good drivers the opportunity to recognise them whilst driving.

For this reason as from the middle of May 2006 those drivers who are
found to be driving badly which includes:
-overtaking in dangerous places;
-driving too close to the car in front;
-stopping sharply;
-speeding in residential areas;
-pulling out without indication;
-performing U turns inappropriately in busy highstreets;
-under taking on motorways and
-taking up more than one lane in multi lane roads,

These drivers will be issued with flags, white with a red cross,
signifying their inability to drive properly.

These flags must be clipped to a door of the car and be visible to all
other drivers and pedestrians

Those drivers who have shown particularly poor driving skills will
have to display a flag on each side of the car to indicate their
greater lack of skill and general lower intelligence mindset to the
general public.

Please circulate this to as many other motorists as you can so that
drivers and pedestrians will be aware of the meaning of these flags.

Department of Transport. :-) :-) :-) :-)

Sounds like you have the same kind of drivers we have on this side of the pond.

As an aside yesterday one of our major insurance companies, Allstate, released a list of the top ten safest cities to drive in. Colorado Springs was rated number 9. If THAT is true, I really ptiy people living in cities that weren't rated as highly. I think we've got plenty of candidates out here for your white flags with the red crosses.

Hi RedLeg

I received an update today from the Dept. of Transport showing the correct placement of these flags on an offender's car:

After the fun on tonight's news, it's odd that they haven't introduced a similar traffic-calming scheme in Scotland....

All the best

Hi Dave

I wish! :-) Actually, I don't have a car at all these days - that's why I've never been able to make it to any of the UK Armorama meet-ups at shows.

All the best

You must be in an area of good public transportantion to get back and forth to work.
Although I only work 5 miles from my apartment, there is no way of getting there without a car/truck.
Years ago there was an actual train station and bus station on the hospital grounds, but that's long gone. Maybe a good thing, too many patients with ground privilages were hopping on the bus and trains to NYC...... :-) :-)

:-) :-) I guess yous guys got the same problems over there with "Loose Nuts Behind The Wheel" as we have over here. :-) :-)

It certainly hasn't gotten any better over here, with 80% unable to read a sign, (Hell that's so bad, they can't even read the picture signs, much less the ones with words!!!) 10% color blind, and 95% with a newly discovered birth defect growing on their ear.
