With just under two months to go, Dragon Expo ’06 is looking bigger and better than ever. Now a stand alone show, Dragon is sparing no expense to make this a convention for all modelers. With more of an emphasis on scale models Dragon in association with Tamiya, Italeri, Hasagawa, Zvezda, Lion Roar and Mini-Art are now hosting a military miniatures modeling competition as well. The details will be posted on the Dragon Expo website next week, but I can tell you in advance that the categories are:

1/35 Armor & Wheeled Vehicles
1/48 Armor & Wheeled Vehicles
1/72 Armor & Wheeled Vehicles
1/48 Aircraft
1/72 Aircraft
Dioramas and Vignettes (All Scales)
Ship (All Scales)

Each category will have a very nice trophy as 1st place with a gift certificate for products. T-Factory as an associate in the organization and judging of the modeling competition will be awarding the following:

MIG Productions and T-Factory Award for Best Finish. Includes a cup and 100 Euro MIG gift certificate.
Xtreme Modelling Award Sponsored by Xtreme Modelling Magazine.
Judges Grand Award Sponsored by T-Factory, includes a trophy a $100 USD gift certificate.
Best In Show Sponsored by T-Factory, includes a trophy and $100 USD gift certificate.

The show location is the new Anaheim Convention Centre a short trip from LAX. Over three days (June 23rd=25th) there will be heaps of raffles, veteran guest speakers, Japans Best Modellers, Ron Volstad, Tom Cockle and Gary Edmundson, special dinners and exclusive new model premiers by Dragon (Sd.Kfz.234/1), Tamiya (Char B?) and Italeri (Sahariana).

Don’t miss the show! Bring the family, Disneyland is only two miles away. Special hotel rates for Dragon Expo attendees. More information added daily at: http://www.dxpo.com/dx/06/news.asp

Be there!

So, I take it they are not going to tie it in with the National show anymore. I believe that is in KC this year. Is Dragon going to run their own show every year? Is it always going to be held in LA? That'll be a crying shame if they did that as they would isolate 2/3 of the country

FYI, some of the new Dragon kits come with an Expo flyer inside. The flyer has a $5 off admission coupon and a $5 off any Dragon booth item. My flyer came in the new Dragon 1/72 scale Jadgtiger with zimmerit kit.

P.S. my flyer is already spoken for.
