Happy birthday.
The year you were born, Springsteen released Born to Run which was overshadowed by The Captain and Tenille’s Love Will Keep Us Together. We were still buying 8 tracks for the car and 12 inch vinyl for home. Gerry Ford was President, Margaret Thatcher became PM of Great Britain and Saigon fell. Jaws was the big movie event of the summer and The Rocky Horror Picture Show was released. All in the family was the top show and Saturday Night Live debuted. Cincinatti beat the Red Sox in 7 games in the World Series, whose highlight was the famous Carlton Fisk home run. The entire line of Honda automobiles consisted of the Civic. Tamiya was producing its M3 Stuart and retailing it for $9.99.
People used Super 8 movie cameras. There were no home video cams, home computers, or dvd's but there were some 12 inch laser disks. Pocket calculators still cost about $100 USD and black and white TV's were still common. There was no cable TV and a 25 inch screen was considered huge. Gas was about 50 cents a gallon. John Wayne was still making movies. Tamiya made the only 1/35 M3 Grant and Lee tanks.
