Sorry! but its hard for me to show up for the "Make & Takes" on Sundays. I have baseball games in the afternoons on that day & I have to be there at least 1 hour before we start playing to warm up. Hobby town does not stock this product. I have checked with them several times and have even asked if they stock it. I'm sure it will be sold at Squadron. I just hate to pay S&H on something I can get locally if possible. the S&H from Woodland is like 10 bucks.

Squadron doesn't carry Woodland Scenics, but I looked it up and Great MOdels does. They are asking $8.10 a bottle and the code is WSFL635 for the medium green or WSFL636 for the dark. Their shipping is bwn $6 and $7 the last time I looked. That is per order not bottle. So you could order a bottle of each and a model kit and with the no tax thing probably equal out what you would have paid in the store with taxes and retail costs. It is quite possible to find ne of the dealers at the show stocking it, It's just a question of what they bring up from their shops. (usually 150 airplane, 50 tank, and 100 car kits that everyone else brings :-) )

Hey guys, sorry to chime in late again here but I was unable to make anything this weekend. Glad to hear everything went well, I'm wound down from hockey and now am just trying to find some spare time to get back to finishing some builds that have been sitting uncompleted for the whole hockey season. lol

Moe:

Good to hear from you guy !!! Hope you will be able to make the Mesquite show again. You're the only one who doesn't make me feel short :-) Seriously though, looks like we'll have a pretty good turnout of club members. I'm just finishing up that monstorously difficult Tristar Panzer IV D. I may bring it in. Had to work really hard on those tracks and trying to align all the road wheels and such. It is a fine looking kit, but I did not manage to make competion level with it

Thanks for the reply. I'll check them out.

This is where you guys need us model railroaders in the group. Woodland Scenics makes a wide variety of grasses. they work well in most applications. HobbyTowns should carry it in their model train section. Hobby Lobby also carries it, as least the one in Plano does, back in their 'limited' model train section.

If you want some help it getting down, just let me know...basically it's hair spray, grass, hair spray and repeat as necessary. The final look can be quite pleasing.

Mike

ps...reading farther along the thread, I saw where you're looking for the grass that stands up. Check out www.sceneryexpress.com and look for the Silflor product line. It's new and sorta expensive, but I've seen it and it looks great. I have used a few of the "prairie tufts" on my layout and they are super.

Thanks for the input Mike. I've always used the model scenics liquid white spray on glue to hold my grass down. But, yea Jim and I are looking for the kind that stands up a bit on its own. It gives a little richer / fuller feel to the diorama. Are you goig to the show next week? I know it ain't trains, but the models are absolutly wonderful to look at, and the dealers have some interesting tools and diorama stuff that one could use on a train lay-out

What is the name of the club? Have you decided on one yet?

I wasn't aware of a name. I just call it "my model club meeting". We are a part of the Historical whatever (refer back to Keith's iitial post. Been to 2 meetings and we've had an average of 7 folks so that sounds like a pretty good start.
