Elier the tornado sirens went off and a tornado touched down in southern Muscatine IA which is the town I live in between Fruitland IA and the Muscatine municipal airport(private jets and cesnas, no commercial flights what-so-ever) on the Mississippi River. I just was like Jesus Christ almighty help us. Thats the 2nd time in 5 weeks the sirens have gone off. I'm still shaking.

Man, I'll take our blizzards over your tornadoes any day,
Glad things are okay for you. I have strong memories of three tornadoes, Worcester in 1953, Winsor Locks in 1979 and Great Barrington in 1996 or so. Some scary stuff.

Yeah, They are rolling through here today and tonight. Bad thing is the sirens aren't loud enough to wake us up so you either have to stay up all night and listen to the radio or just go to sleep and roll the dice.

They scare me too.

Glad your ok Luke.

I know what its like. We may not get a lot of them out here but we do get some. Had one weekend a few years back we had to spend every night in the basement. Even had the top twisted off one of the trees below the house.
If I remember correctly I think that was the weekend Salisbury was hit hard by a few of the.

Looks like this has been a bad season for tornados. Keep safe out there.

We get plenty of them here in Kansas and they are no joke. The Kansas City area has been pretty lucky so far this year, as the bad stuff has seemed to go north or south of the metropolitan area. Not so all the time. Luckily, our house has a fully-finished basement, with a pretty good and protected shelter (the basement bathroom). When the storms roll in, I monitor NOAA radar live on my computer in my model bunker. If the power goes out, I switch to radio. We had some awesome golfball-size hail a couple weeks ago. No major damage, but it was something to watch!

There was a great show on twisters on NOVA this week. The website is pretty interesting, too, if you are a tornado junkie like me: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/tornado/

More bad news, the area I live in and the entire veiwing area for KWQC TV6 news(NBC) is under a Tornado Watch until 12:00 AM Sunday. Hopefully no tornados touch down in Muscatine county nor in Muscatine IA.

..maybe I'm the only one that got that :-)

"use the storm cellar you must!"

glad you're safe, we had a tornado in Virginia last year, but all it did was blow some stuff out of the walmart lawn and garden section.

Damn, head for cover. At least here in California we only worry about rain, mud slides and fog.

Loads of fun again tonight here in Tornado Alley. Sirens went off about an hour ago ... of course, my wife and daughter are in the middle of coloring their hair and I'm yelling at them to get to the basement.

We had some big hail for a few minutes, but no damage I can see in the dark. Maybe in the morning I'll get a different assessment, but for now it looks like the worst missed us again. The power flickered, but didn't go out. The cable has been spotty, but stayed on most of the time.

And brush fires and earthquakes and even volcanos further north ... you can keep California. I think I'd rather deal with these Kansas storms -- at least I can take cover.

They got me! power is back after 2 days - we lost 200 power poles between lincoln and Springfield Il. - I'm kinda glad I had to work today so I was able togo tto the site - -power was restored this afternoon- All the fish in the aquariums survived so it's all cool!
