Glad to hear that you're on the mend.As for physio, don't forget the two-four hoist technique.....the twist off caps will work all the wrist ,and the hoisting will help the rest..........24 bottles in a case, 24 hours in a day.....coincidence? I think not!

Right now I'm a lefty. The ex fix should be coming out next week and I'll be put into a splint. We hope the elbow won't be fused. We're really keeping our fingers crossed on that.

Mike best of luck with your progress! Physiotherapy, now that’s a legal form of torture. :-)

Seriously though, don’t think I’ll ever forget the first words my Physiotherapist said to me. Long story short, I was 19 and had major surgery to my leg and was told that I’d walk with a limp etc.
Along comes this guy in his forties and introduces himself as my physio, with that he says: “This is one of those good- bad news situations. The good news is that your recovery is now in your own hands. The bad news is that the easiest part is behind you.”

Best is to concentrate on the good news!

PS: Still haven’t found that Limp I’m supposed to be walking with, maybe he got lost somewhere? :-)

Hey Guys new update. Had surgery on friday, the aniestisiologist said she had a harder time finding a vein on me than the drug addict she had the week before! right now, i'm in a half cast from my wrist to my shoulder. they have my arm straight to get try and get my tricep to scar to some bone around my elbow. if it does, they will put on a new splint that will allow gradual range of motion of my elbow. if not it will be fused, so keep your fingers crossed.
later.

Hey guys, well the positive vibes seem to be working cause I've been getting good reports from the doctors. I've got a new plastic splint which feels more comfortable. The nerve is slowly growing in. (I'm feeling sparks in my little finger now, which was numb before) I start physio next week and was told this weekend was my last easy one! I remeber someone saying physio is legalized torture! Physio believes I should be getting back to "normal" in 2-3 months. As long as i go on my Sgt's course in Feb I'll be happy. We're still waiting for the out come of the elbow though.

Hey everyone, haven't been posting lately cause appointment have been CRAZY!!! Somedays there would be 3-4 things to get to so here's an update with lot's of good news.

On the physio side I've got the new brace that bends which means I won't be taking to many steps backwards in physio. We've got my arm to bend up to 30 degrees so far with the end goal being 90. Right now I can free move it to about 15. The tricep seems to have scarred onto the bone and the bones are slowly knittting. Although I'll still be setting off metal detectors for the rest of my life! The wound openings are getting smaller and smaller with no sign of infection. BTW I have some cool gross pics of my arm if anyone wants to see! There's actually a bicep back now.

I bought a car (gasp) model at Wal mart to practice on but I think I'll have to wait a little bit though....I tried holding a pencil in my right hand and it shook like I'd had about a dozen expressos! (Hey why's the engine glued to the back seat?) I moved my baby finger by itself for the first time yesterday so that's progress. I'll be modeling in no time.

Hi Mike

This is all great news.As for the dozen expressos I need that to not shake!!! The engine in the back seat well.......you could call it a "mid engine". :-)

Again here's wishing you the best and a speedy get well.We all want to see some of your work soon!

That's great news, Mike! Slowly but surely, just be patient with yourself and keep that positive attitude. Don't let the teasing get to you about car models, I've got one on the go now, too.
Nobody can give you pushups now!!

EDIT- PS, Lambert says Hi from luv'ly Gagetown!

Just got the new issue of Macleans (Mar 26,2007), there is an awesome story about Mike and a couple other Lads who were injured and how they are doing now. Mike, if you still check in here once in a while, Cheers to you and your Family

Jim
ps-were you at the PPCLI Family event thingy on Sunday? A good friend of mine is now the Maint O over there and invited me and my girls, they liked the ride in the LAV-III.
