Hello all!
Since my husband spends so much time on this site( and I mean so much time!), I thought I'd come in and take a look around and introduce myself. My name is Kirsten and I'm Jim's wife. I have to say, if my husband is going to spend so much time online, I'm glad it's with a bunch of guys(and a few gals) on a military modeling site The members here seem to be some really great people. Well, take care!

Well Kirsten,
Allow me to be the first to bid you a very warm welcome to the very best armour site on the web, all thanks to your husband Jim! Not only has he accomplished the task of creating a wonderful site where both amatuers and pro's can share this great hobby, but he has also,if I may be so bold, created an 'atmosphere' of comaraderie that is growing day by day.

Again, welcome. And I must say that I am quite envious of Jim, having a supportive wife and lifemate like yourself that not only endorses this madness called 'modeling', but apparently also participates!

She's a keeper Jim. :-)

Welcome Kirsten! It's good to know Jim's got a good anchor to keep him grounded. Make him build a model once in a while too!

Chappy - Kirsten and I co-built one working model of a 1:1 scale baby? Does that count?

Jim - I am going out Friday to buy my supplies and figures (1/35), if I can find some good ones at my local hobby store.

Tread - Thanks, I think I will keep her after all.

Wife - Ok...ok....I will create you a custom avatar. But I draw the line at promoting you to instant general! hehe :::smooch:::

Thanks for the kind words, and welcome to the site! So, will you two have to fight over who gets to be on the site at a certain time... Or did Jim buy you a new computer for your own surfing?

Master Yoda makes a good thought here. My wife and I each have a computer, connected by ethernet. It promotes domestic bliss

Kirsten,

I would like to congratulate you on having a very Skandinavian name!! At to judge the looks from your avitar you have some Swedish blood in you too!! A mix like that can't be all that bad...

I must pipe in with everyone else and say this is the premier site for armor modelling. Maybe not the biggest in the amount of pictures or reviews, but the "feel" beats anything out there...

Kirsten,
It is nice to meet you. I'm glad Jim has someone you understands the modelling madness. I had the pleasure of meeting Jim at the last show in Richmond and I must say that his work (with your help) on this site is making it a very friendly place to visit.. Now all he has to do is build a plastic model.

Hello, Mrs. Jim's Wife. I am the resident guy who owns the stuff the Army still uses and everyone wants pictures of the stuff. You can call me "Guy with stuff" or Rob.

LOL... I guess I'll have to ask Jim to make a special Avatar for her when I get chained.. Something with beautifull orange eyes and long purple hair perhaps... :-)

Welcome Kirsten and enjoy the site of ultimate modeling madness...

Hey ' Guy with Stuff ' , (just had to call you that ). Since your tossing around a few names here, I was wondering about YOUR name....Sabot?

Hmmm, consulting Webster's Encyclopedic Dictionary,
sabot; n (mil.) lightweight carrier in which a subcaliber projectile is centered to permit firing the projectile in a larger caliber weapon, the carrier filling the bore of the weapon from which the projectile is fired.

Doesn't that last little bit sound a little like 'cannon fodder' ?

lol Rob, just kidding...

Hello Kristen,
Welcome to the only other lady that I know of on the site. Maybe you'll come into the Mess Hall with Jim sometime and we can swap "better half" stories. :-) With me and my hubby, I do the models and he rags me about it. Kinda backwards, huh.

When I was at my Armor Officer Basic Course, the Mississippi National Guard guys commented that I was as short as a sabot round (the 105mm sabot rounds were about 2 foot tall). Everyone in the class caught up on the use of the nickname, and since several officers went to Germany with me, the name followed, then upon the return to Knox, etc. The armor community is a small branch, heck DJ probably went to school with some of my battalion and brigade commanders.

By the way, it is pronounced "SAY-BO".

Hiya Kirsten,
Nice to hear that you (the better half ) are willing to sacrifice your quality time and show an interest in Lord Jims' affairs and interests! Healthy relationships lead to a healthy web-site.
Keep it up the pair of you!
And again Welcome!

LOL, Ron. After I saw this post, I said " Look honey, Jim's wife has introduced herself to the rest of us on the site"...her reply..."Oh really, do you think he (Jim) will make a forum for the wives and or girlfriends, so we can "chat" too?... ...really she did.
