Ok so the question "Why don't the electron layers in a molecule start with A and go on?" because it starts with K and L M N and so forth.
I can't find the answer anywhere and if any of you could possibly help, that would be quite grand!

Lee,

hey man...i just open my rusty brain...

i remember how i love quantum physics back in my pre-university....

i still remember how Bohr dreamt about electron dancing in the atom..

hey man, i also cant figure out why they're name start from K,L ...

just like the electron shape which were name, sp, p , sp1 etc..etc

funny, why do u need this answer??

I'm guessing here, but... the first layer was called K perhaps because of a man who discovered the phenomenon and later layers were just alphabetically added. I could be very wrong here, but such namings are something science often does... A good example could be a technique called Southern blot invented by a man called Southern; the techniques devised from that one are called Northern and Western... kind of funny in a nerd sort of way...

I don't know if that makes any sense or if it is a correct answer. Just something that could be true...

Wikipedia says this electron shells

might of course be worth checking a bit further to verify the information.

OK, so I finally found the answer...sorta
It originally started at A, but then this electro-majig thing was this and that, so later, they started going alphabetically from K from the german word cat something...
thanks to all that replied!
