Regina, Saskatchewan - 1940

That was where and when my grandfather joined the Canadian Infantry. He died before I was born, but my mother tells me I am alot like him, really wish I could have met him.
Side note: Anyone know which units were formed in Regina in 1940? All I have is a picture of him in england and a few medals and have no clue who he served with or where he fought, Im guessing the Regina Rifles, but im not sure.

A lot would depend on my age, how much knowledge I would have of future events or would I just be starting life over. If could go back I'ld like to relive the early to mid 60's again. A kinder gentler time and life was simpiler. No cell phones, computers, video games. Rock music was about love and having fun. As a kid you could safely walk to school and play outside until it got dark.

If I could pick my status, a US Army Major regular Army in the mid 30's stationed in Berlin....kind of the Winds of War thing

Hi, No particlar time period spcifically, as I'm not really all that excited about the human race in general terms to begin with, but just back to a time where I could see this country as it once was before it became "civilized." To see the really big trees, fresh running brooks and streams, smell the really clean air, to feel the Earth as it was naturally made instead of this sickly anemic landscape it has become under the current occupants. It sure had to have been a most beautiful land. Maybe it will once again become so when man's reign is through. I seem to be in a "mood' this morning, ha, ha!

Take care, Larry

I kind of go with a mixture of Steve and Larry's replies. If I could know then what I know now I wouldn't mind reliving my own life, to an extent. There are a lot of things I'd do differently. If I had to start from scratch I'd love to see this country from about the time of Lewis and Clark. To cross a stream and know I was the first English speaking person to have ever seen the sights, that would be pretty special.

This year in Colorado Springs we're celebrating the bicentennial of Zebulon Pike, of Pikes Peak fame. That's about the time period I'm talking about.

Not that I regret my current life, but I've always had 4 things I'd like to be/do:

Past:
-- Capt of a RN Frigate, ca 1790-1815.
-- Capt of Cavalry, the US West, ca 1870-1890.
-- Pilot of a B-17 in Europe, WW2
Future:
-- Pilot of an exploratory ship, launched into space to travel as far and as long as it can go without worrying about coming back ...

This one's easy: Mountain man, early 1800s. Or better yet, one of the French voyagers who accompanied Lewis and Clark (I would not have wanted to be one of their soldiers).

Great question!

Different times for different reasons I guess.

Music : mid-fifties N.Y. - Trane, Miles, Diz, Tito, Bird, all the cats stretchin' out.

Landscape: Eastern U.S. 1700's. It would be incredible to see the east coast before settlement. That's why I love that movie "Last of the Mohicans"

Intensity Factor: Western Europe 1944-45. I would have loved to have been in Paris for the liberation. That must've been some party. And to have survived to the end of the war must've been exhilerating at a very primal level.

If I had to pick one, it would be Europe '44-'45. Just have to hope there wasn't a bullet with my name on it. There's always that little problem....

It would have to be Roman Britain, just to see if the stuff I write or work is even vaguely correct
