Hello all,

A few weeks ago I posted a nasty e-mail I received from someone purporting to be a staff member. Jim jumped on this quickly, and was able to assure me it was not a staff member here.

Well, this person struck again last night, but this time he made a fatal error, using part of his real name. I contacted the ISP where the domain number originated from, and with their help, was able to obtain his name, address, etc.

I called this individual last night, simply to ask, “What have I ever done to you.” Short answer… I refused his offer to build figures, and paint figures for box art, for his budding (now defunct) modeling company.

When confronted with the evidence, he admitted his guilt, asked for my forgiveness, and promised never to attack me again, if I would only not take his info public. He was very concerned that his reputation would be destroyed (I believe he is, or was, a moderator, but on another site).

So, I just wanted to let everyone know that it looks like this odyssey is at an end, and not a moment too soon, as I was just hours from tossing it all in, and leaving the Internet modeling sites forever.

To all of you who offered support while I was going through this, I wish to offer my sincerest thank you.

I no longer have to hide my e-mail; I no longer have to think two or three times about posting, or submitting site content… I can now look forward to really enjoying the site.

I'm with Jim, shoot his name across the web. It will be the only way he will learn not to do this again.

Robert,

You are far too forgiving, we should all be that tolerant.

Glad to hear it, Robert!
One less troll under the bridge, as far as I'm concerned...you're being a little too kind though, by not naming this guy.

Robert, congrats on catching the rat who was doing you harm. Mighty honorable on your part to not release his name.

Robert. I think Jim might be referring to the staff member that the email purported to be from. Or was it anonymous?

Thanks guys, really, I appreciate it.

I am torn, as I do feel that the guy should be "outed," but I am also relieved to have this at an end...

About two years ago I had a "trade gone bad" on another website. I was brand new to modeling, and no one there really knew me, but I was urged to "out" the person who did not complete his end of the bargain.

I gave in and "outed" the person. Within 24 hours, there were TONS of people rushing to this person’s defense, and I was put on notice that they considered me to be in the wrong, and not telling the truth (despite proof of delivery of the parcel I sent). The main thrust of this retaliation came from someone now very familiar to Armorama readership, Mr. Bryan Gray.

So, after that experience, I have decided that not "naming names" is the proper course of action.

I do appreciate the support I received here.

I’m glad you found out who was bothering you and were able to put a stop to it.

Just one question. Is this the same guy that was causing most of the problems around here? If so Staff Jim would most likely be interested in knowing who it is.

Otherwise I agree with you on not releasing his name to the public considering the 2 of you appear to have worked things out.

Oh, I see...

No, the "reply to" address and "from" addresses were changed to appear to be from Armorama staff.

Actually, no, it is not the person we all thought it was. This person resides in the US.

While I am thankful to have this over, I would not go as far as to say that we worked anything out. I am still upset, as all I did was to politely decline an offer to build/paint figures for this gentleman's company. I did nothing to this gentlman, and he has tortured me, on and off, for almost two years now.

I’m sorry to here you had so much trouble with this guy.

But think of the bright side. As long as he’s afraid your give out his name he probably won’t bother you anymore.
And if he does you have all the info you need to file charges.

That's a very high road you took on this matter,Robert.
I respect that as I am not sure I could do that myself.
Glad it's over for you.
Peace and cheers!

Well, I dunno. When I first read about this it seemed the 'threatening email' contained information that only one of the mods, or the recipient would have known.

I got the impression the whole thing was fabricated, attention seeking and I'm afraid your unwillingness to name the person, which would be entirely justified, can only reinforce suspicions that this is a load of bollocks.

I am not unwilling to name the person. I am simply unwilling to name the person publicly, in the forums. There are moderators who know who it is, and at least one former moderator who knows who it is, and I have shared the info with Jim S.

If you had bothered to read the thread above, you will see that I once "outed" a cheat in a public forum (at urging such as yours), and his friends came charging in to defend him, and though I had done NOTHING wrong, Bryan Gray (the ringleader) won the day because they were bigger names in the hobby. I am certainly not sad to see Mr. Gray squirming now, the pillar of modelling that he has been exposed to be.

Where do you come off accusing me of "fabricating" the torment I have endured?

I explained FULLY why I did not NAME this person in the forum.

I get plenty of "attention" by building and painting figures, and writing articles here, which are read by thousands of people, I do not need to fabricate an e-mail "stalker" to garner sympathy.

Bryan Gray and his "band of buddies" won the day because they were (are?) big names in the hobby (legends in their own minds).

Be very careful what you are implying...Jim

I am simply implying that Mr. Gray, and some of his friends from another online site, came rushing to the aid of a man who welched on his part of a trade, and ganged up on me. I had proof of mailing, and proof of delivery of my items. In the end, this gentleman even admitted wrong doing, and made restitution (after nearly a year).

I did not say that anyone else from this site was involved. I have no idea who Mr. Gray's friends on this site, may be.

I have already received PMs from people who recall the situation, and have surmised who my "stalker" was.

How can you be worried about his buddies jumping in and winning the day? If what you say is true, how could anyone possibly defend or support the actions you allege?

In this case you are damned whatever you do, but you don't name the guy, you are leaving a big question mark over yourself.

If you didn't want to make this public, why didn't you write to admin privately in the first place; it's a bit convenient now to bring out the 'not in public bit'.

I'm sure that if you name the person you will have lots of support and zero attacks.

No, no one here... I do not know if some of those people are members here or not. It was two years ago now. I distinctly recall Mr. Gray as the main instigator though, and also one of the moderators over at WW2MM, who I hear is also gone now.

Please go back and carefully READ what has been written. The incident I alluded to with Mr. Gray and his friends ocurred around two years ago on another site.

Citing my experience then, on that site, I will NOT name this person in a forum so I can experience a repeat of that situation.

As I said, some of the moderators know, and Jim S. (the site owner) now knows. I have also received a few PMs from people who have figured it out.

I did, and several moderators were aware. I made it public because I thought it was our UK troll (Burgess), and I wanted the staff to take more effective action against him. In hind site, knowing who it is now, I would not have posted at all.

I am certainly not interested in your support. I think you have a real lack of character to make accusations like you have, and whatever I tell you, you will simply twist to make me look guilty of something I am not. I suspect you are simply another little troll, looking to make trouble.

I will stop feeding you now.
