Well, I was out in Fresno last week to celebrate my birthday with the fiance and figured what the heck. We went down to the courthouse and got married. I came back and gave my notice at work on monday. I am in the process of packing and will be leaving for Cali next weekend.

To all my Missouri buddies, especially Brent Sauer, Tim Dike, Anders Heintz, Gary Owsley, Gordon Kwan, and Bob Kerr, I'd like to say thanks for your friendship and I hope to continue it long distance if possible. I will miss you guys terribly. Thanks for your support guys.

To all my new Californicating buddies, I look forward to meeting you all soon.

Wish me luck in my new life with my new bride and soon to be adopted first son.

Thanks Dave and Jim, I appreciate it.

Oh and Jim? I was married once already. The divorce was why I had to take time off being a forum moderator. Now I kinda wish I hadn't given that up, but that's life I guess. Charlene seems much more accepting of my modelling though, she actually bought me an assortment of evergreen odds and ends for christmas. I need to remember to keep my modelling in proportion to the rest of my life. I think I used modelling to get away from the problems of my last marriage and I can't do that if this marriage is going to work. It's all part of life though, isn't it?

OK Rob, inhale deeply and let it out sllooowwwllllyyy.

I left St. Louis a couple of years ago and ended up in Washington state. What a change! Going from single to family and MO to CA should be a mind numbing experience. Hang in there!

Rob,

Hope you enjoy it here with your new bride in our neck of the woods. I have been in Clovis for over 20 years now and it is a pretty nice place to be. Give me a holler when you get settled, I would love to bring you around to the monthly IPMS meetings here (pretty loose group of about 25-30 modellers of all different stripes). Even Staff Jim shows up every once in awhile :-)

Thanks Rick, I appreciate the offer, and will take you up on it after things quiet down.

Mark, I know what you mean. It is shaping up to be a hectic couple of weeks, and thats without the cost of movers. My dad runs a trucking company and will be shipping my stuff out next time he gets a load out that way, but I am still running around crazy getting stuff ready.

That's a MAJOR blessing. I hate to think what it's cost to move MO-MN-WA with the wife and all our junk.

Congrats and best wishes, Rob!

You know, if you find the Left Coast a little too much, you're always welcome back here in the Heartbland.

We were just talking about you the other night at the KC AMPS meeting. Were your ears burning? (Nothing bad ... just chit-chatting about folks we hadn't seen at a meeting in a while.)

I see all your pics of Gary's tank are up on Prime Portal -- what a great reference (except for the scary pics with Gary in them)! BTW, Gary and I are road-tripping to the AMPS Nats in Ohio in April. That ought to be fun, though we'll probably bore each other to death repeating war stories for the 13-hour drive.

Are you coming back for the IPMS Nats in August? It should be a blast. Looks like I'm working the Raffle, so if you're around be sure to buy a few tickets and shoot the breeze.

I'm getting WAY

Again, best wishes for you and the new Mrs. McCune. And let them Left Coasters know that us flat-landers might be a bunch of rednecks, but we can really build some models!

Well, after two arduous days, about 70 gallons of fuel, and a brief spat between my car and a 55 gallon steel drum I am now in the sunny state of California where it has been cloudy and rainy for two days. Hi to all my new califriends.

Hey Rob,

Welcome (belated) to sunny (really????) and very liberal California. Do not worry, there are some of us that are trying to change this state to "red" soon.

Hey, so you and your lady have joined the knot - congrats (belated also).

If you are ever near the Vacaville area, fire me a note and we can chat somewhere close. Also note that there is a great shop in Sacto-town, called Viking Hobby. If up state, drop a note to Jessica and Mark. Real cool folks and Mark is the hired slave.....

Later,
Dave

Well, I have ben here for about a month and am doing okay, but no modelling. I am redoing a kitchen and dining room first. I just wanted to put in a note to let you guys know my new wife, Charlene is pregnant and I can't be happier. My new step sons adoption is going to probably be final around the same time as the baby is born so it looks like I will have twins!! :-) :-) :-)

Good to hear things are going well for you out in Cali. Hopefully soon you'll be able to settle down and build again.

Rob,
Sorry playing a little catchup on local greetings. But I know you have been busy with the move and all. I see you arrived for the RAINY SEASON. :-)

In 3 years I have never seen it rain here so much.

Congrats on the news of err... twins! It's great to be a daddy, of that I can attest.

Well PM me sometime. We can meet up and exchange moving horror stories. (mine was a deer in Colorado btw). :-)

So YOU brought the rain??
Seriously, a belated welcome to California.
Congrats on the new family
Hoping that you will be able to fire up the modeling soon.
Cheers,
Charles

Well here is my belated welcome to California from Clovis. You may have come when it was raining, but summer in the central valley will be a whole lot different than the East coast.
