Just received this e/mail from Hannants. The rumour mill was true?

Quoted Text

"With great regret we sadly have to tell you that our world famous model shop in
Colindale, north London will be closing on May 31st 2006. This is because our
lease ran out in March 2005 and despite lengthy and expensive legal activity we
have been unable to secure another one. We want to stay there but our landlords
want to redevelop the site and lease it to a national chain of
supermarkets/minimarkets.

The last day we will be open is Wednesday May 31st. The shop will close at 17.30
for the final time. The previous weekend is a Bank Holiday so we will be open on
Sunday May 28th and Monday May 29th. Doors open 10.00 and shut 16.00 on these 2
dates.

The shop will operate as normal right up until we close and we will continue to
deliver new kits and accessories every Thursday. The shop will receive all items
that have been delivered to Lowestoft by 17.30 Wednesday 24th but nothing
delivered to Lowestoft after that date will be available to buy from the London
Colindale shop. You can check the website for the date an item was delivered to
see if it is available in Colindale or better still just ask us to take it down
there for you specially. If you do this using the website please remember to
tick the "collect from show" box and write "Colindale" in the additional
comments box.

We thank all of you who have visited our shop since it opened in 1992 and hope
you will continue to enjoy it for the limited amount of time we have left.

Thank you for reading this far. Now here is the GOOD news! A new "Hannants
London" model shop will be opening just a short distance away in Unit 2 on the
Hurricane Industrial Estate. This is on Grahame Park Way and 200 yards north of
the entrance to the RAF Museum. This will be an independantly owned franchise of
H.G.Hannant Ltd managed by our current shop manager Garry Linsdell. There will
be plenty of parking, you will still be able to use the Colindale tube station
and it is even closer to the RAF Museum. It is intended that the new unit will
open on June 10th but we will confirm this nearer the time.

Some news from Lowestoft.

We already have one of the top modelling websites in the world but we will be
replacing it with an all new site with all the latest facilities we need to
progress into the future. Behind the scenes we will also have a 100% new
invoicing and stock control programme. Work on these has begun and this is
expected to launch in January 2007.

We will continue to welcome visitors to our Lowestoft warehouse where you will
still be able to see the largest selection of plastic kits, decals, paints and
modelling books in the world."

Sounds like good news to me.
Yep the rumour was partly true, but like I said on that thread Hannants is moving, and now it's even nearer to the RAF museum, cool

Hi Andy

That's exciting news! And I'm glad they're moving to Hurricane (not Spitfire) Industrial Estate! Sorry Mal

All the best

Drat! further to walk from the Tube station. Still, it's about time that I went to the RAF Museum again.

Its good new that a new store is being operned. Bloody chain store are destroying the market place. But being nearer to the RAF Museum will mean my research trips are going to be more expensive :-)
