For those of you still looking for a compressor, Netto are doing one at £49.95 and it’s a good one.
Whilst SWMBO was clothes shopping with the two junior (in training) SWMBOs, I was browsing around Netto for cheap tools, bits and bobs and noticed it.
Fully controllable Dual gauged outputs and 20 litre tank, it’s worth it.

I'm afraid our little troll has found the UK section.
Great lead on the compressor Eric. Do you have any info on the noise-level of this beastie? I bought a compressor from B&Q some years ago, but had to give it away because it sounded like a road-drill... but at £50 it's got to be worth a shot!
All the best

Last year I bought a compressor from Netto, probebly the same one or similar. The noise is rated at 99db! I have to run it outside in the shed and then carry it inside to where I use it.

Theres an ebay shop called Everythingairbrush that have a couple of nice compressors.
The cheapest is £64 and comes with a regulator and a water trap. Ive just bought the next one up,,with a tank.
Sometimes they put the compressors through on auction as well.
Worth checking out!

Hi Andy.
Heres a link for the shop
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Everythingairbrush
This is a link for the compressor I have.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINI-PISTON-TYPE-AIR-COMPRESSOR-FOR-AIRBRUSH-NAIL-ART_W0QQitemZ8255976909QQcategoryZ28111QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
They put these through the auction regularly.Do a search for mini compressors and you'll find them there.I bagged mine for £80,which is pretty good when you get the pressure gauge and the water trap included.
The output is 1/8th so you may need an adaptor to fit your airhose. They stock these as well and they are only a couple of quid. If you win/buy one give them a ring. You'll find them very helpfull and the delivery was 2 days.

I can't fault my Wolf Air from Screwfix.co.uk
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=101383&ts=88066&id=64562
however it is fitted with Uni push fittings not the UK norm of PCL. A pack of 1/4" Uni fittings is here as it's very doubtful you’ll get them from your local tool shop, is I found out!:

24 litre compressor for around £75 inc P&P

Ah Steve good question! A Netto is a place where many, many people shop, but very few admit to doing so! :-) :-) :-) :-)
The tight fisted Yorkshiremen don’t seem to give a hoot (So you Scotsmen would really love it.). It’s my favourite place for tools, alcohol and pop for the SWMBO in training (daughters), very cheap prices and as the work that the tools are used for, is strictly DIY the standard’s OK.
Went back today to look at the Compressors again and not surprising, all gone!
As to the sound problems- before we moved house, I housed my ‘Homebase type’ compressor (115Db) in a ‘sound proofed’ housing, to keep the noise down, it worked nicely too. Not whisper mode, but tolerable.
Basically took a couple of old crisp’s cardboard boxes, cut them to size, doubled them up (two pieces glued together for each wall and roof), lined with polystyrene (adding egg boxes works best). Stood the compressor on a piece of insulation and hey presto.
The next one I build will be out of wood with insulation instead of just half-inch polystyrene and vents for heat.

Braystaff , the ‘Homebase type’ compressor I bought had the oddest fitting, nothing gave a good seal, so bought a set of 5 couplings and a Quick Release Coupling for the compressor, IIRC it cost a fiver on Ebay.
I already own a Hobbyair, but I believe the Werther one is a very good modeller’s compressor, plus at £52 + VAT it is £22 cheaper than the last time I looked:
