MOTAT's annual 'Military Day' has been extended to two days. There will be military re-enactments, military vehicle rides and much more! They are sure to have the Universal Carrier and Valentine tank running.
As well , the RC Tank club will have a display/demonstration area. If any Armorama members would like to display their static models ,they would be most welcome, just let me know.

Fordboy, you can keep an eye on the Motat website for further details,http://www.motat.org.nz/index.htm , nothing yet though.
I know they will have free camo facepainting for the kids, as well, I will be running a 'U-Drive' setup where any visitor can have a try at battling with a 1/16th tamiya 'battle system' equipped tank. I run this 'U-drive' setup for MOTAT at least once a month as I have an RC based entertainment business.

Will certainly be making the trip since its close to the zoo where i can deposit my wife and kid. hehehe

Seems like there's quite a bunch of us planning on heading over there...

IF I can convince Her Indoors to let me off the leash for an arvo, maybe us Armorama types should co-ordinate and RV for a chat and a wander round.

$0.02

Guys further details will probably only be published the week prior to the event. It's likely that there will be a special 2 day pass, for the cost of one day; to be confirmed. It will be at MOTAT 2 (Aviation). You can use the tank club stand as a meeting point if you like,it will be outdoors if the weather is good, or inside the hangar if ir rains/looks like rain. It would be great to meet you guys. I'll let you know if I get any more info.
You will also be pleased to know that you will be able to pick up an Academy model while you are at MOTAT 2, (I'm Ace hobby's sales rep for MOTAT)

If you mean a military re-enactment event, I don't know, you could contact the Jeep owners Club/Military Re-enactment society to see if they run events down your way. http://www.jeepownersclub.co.nz/ Warbirds over Wanaka would be the ultimate event to go to I think.

Thats definitely one event i hope to attend one of these years. Pity its not held in the Winter season as i could kill 2 birds with one stone that way...snowboard and watch the warbirds.

I asked a MOTAT staff member today, and I was told that if you buy a ticket on Sat, you also can use it for entry on Sunday.

This is up on the MOTAT site
"MILITARY WEEKEND! Feb 11& 12 MOTAT 2 Motions Rd Past the Zoo 10am - 5pm Pay on Saturday come back Sunday for free! Mock battles, music, weapons displays, rides. See a tank up close!"

I have been asked by MOTAT's PR agency to be available for media interviews on friday, so fingers crossed, I might be on TV with my tanks on friday night's news! I'll keep you posted on that!

Well onthe 11th I went to the 'Wheels around Waiouru' at the Waiouru museum. They had a lot of vehicles that they don't normally have on display.

Walker Bulldog
Scorpion
M16 Halftrack
a couple of different bren carriers
A selection of jeeps, including an 'SAS' version
Valentine
Quite a few trucks, recovery vehicles etc. I'm not too sure exactly what they were as thats not my thing.
3 x M113s (one white kiwi UN version with add on armour).
M577
LAV
Pinzgaur
numerous Landrovers, including one with a 106 recoiless rifle.

They had re-enactors doing an attack supported by some of the armour and a 25 pounder firing blanks.

The Maori battalion's canteen truck was selling programs and models etc.

Some if the vehicles were private collector's rather than the musem's.

An interesting weekend since MOTAT is a bit far to travel from Bulls.
