Hi Everyone,

With the holiday and a short period of sunshine I managed to take some pics of my work on the heads that will be used for my Ramcke Brigade vignette. All heads were painted with acrylics. There's still room for improvement as I still need to improve on the blending.

The first pic are DML heads. I'm just using the 2 right heads and the most likely the far left head. The one in the center will be used in a different figure. The 2nd. from the left was leftover from my Cassino vignette.

The next one are Kirin heads. I will probably use the right 2. The left one's helmet is still not painted yet. They're slightly bigger than DML so it will be tricky putting them together. As I mentioned in my post under the "Status" thread here Kirin do make very nice resin figures although it appears slightly on the big side.

All comments greatly appreciated. Thanks.

CK,

excellent progress...

the skin tone cantik la bro...are they acrylics?? or oil??

btw, the Kirin's head pun nampak cool...
the only thing i can say is the lips are all pink.... they got lipstick ehh?? hehehe..

btw CK, if u;re still looking for hornet head, here's the link :-

Many thanks Boss. They are all done in acrylics. I quite happy with this batch, at least I think I'm getting closer to figuring out the right dilutions and blending.

As for their pinkie lips, now that you've mentioned it I might even put a dab of gloss to bring out their lips. Personally I find purple more interesting (hehheh).

I've actually got some Hornet heads from Hobbyeasy. I have to say they're the best for detail, size and minimal pin holes. The same cannot be said for the 2 Verlinden conversion kits I bought. Hornet heads are just about right for DML figures.

I used mainly Tamiya, Zaidi. The other paint I used to blend with the Tamiya paints are called Game Color or something which comes in eye drop bottles. They're used by the Warhammer and Gundam guys coz that's where I bought them when I first got back into modelling.

I noticed recently on the label the Vallejo trademark so I think they must be a subsidiary of Vallejo. They give a very smooth finish but a slight satin shine so I stop using them. But then when blended with Tamiya they seem pretty okay for faces but not equipment/clothes.

Unfortunately no thanks to my poor photo skills the blending doesn't show up but actually they give a nice subtle transistion between the highs and shadows. Boss datanglah rumah if you're in the neighbourhood to view them and compare notes. Besides we need to do an exchange of "media references".

My man Jimbo, I almost forgot. Personally I don't really fancy Jessica Alba though tapi kalau she nak I jadi her part time boyfriend I may just considerlah provided it doesn't cut into my future project of scuplting Naomi Watts(heehee).

i ask them if they can bring vallejo, but they said it's againts the agreement with windsor n newton

Boss I bought Game color some 1 year plus ago when I first started back into modelling. The shop was in Atria Shopping Centre, PJ and the guy who runs it, Vincent, a very helpful guy sells only Gundam. Unfortunately, about 2 mths. ago when I went back to Atria his shop was gone.

Apa cerita with Game Color? For me as mentioned earlier they're generally fine for faces but not so good if you want a complete Matt finish. I think I paid RM 10/bottle. I think Vincent would have moved somewhere and I did remember him telling me his supplier is local.

I would drop by your house tapi tak tau mana and secondly I'd probably get lost in Putrajaya having masuk twice only, once to meet you for minum teh.

Beachbum, the GameColor you got there is, if I am not wrong, from Vallejo. Vallejo has many series. I was there at the Atria shop a few times but they closed down suddenly last year or so. No support from the modelling community I guess.
