are there any beginner ways to make sandbags that aren't so identical looking like a bunch of bricks? I'm looking for ways to make it so it will have different creases, folds etc. so the plaster casting/copying method isn't gonna work for me
thanks!

BTW these are going to get piled up on the glacise plate of my Jackson

Hey Kyo-jin
If you search the site re sandbags this has cropped up many times... Personally, I think that milliput sculpted ones work best for me, but if I had the patience then the method of actually recreating the filling process with railroad ballast etc. in a cut to size tissue then tied off with string would look most realistic if done well.
Will try to dig up a couple puics of the M36 with sandbags to assist if you want... Trick is to make them smaller than you think they will need to be
Cheers
Brad

Please see this post, it is a more advanced way to make them but with some patients it is really worth a try.

I made this sketch up on how I create sandbags.

I use tissue; make small bags; fill with fine sand (HO railroad ballast), and then ties them off with rigging thread. Once I make up the number I need, I grab them with tweezers, dip them in a 50/50 White Glue and Water solution and lay them on the model or base. I will occasionally rip a bag and let the sand spill out. Once dried, I paint, weather and dry-brush.

Hope it makes sense.

I used the sewn edges of an old short-sleeve shirt. Add a little stiching on the other side, fill with sandbox sand and tie off with thread. After painting they look fairly realistic, and they are moldable so you can flatten them, etc. It's a lilttle work, but to me it's worth the effort. Good luck.
