Hi all!

An "official" IL2 Forgotten Battles Armorama Arena has been created and for those who want to participate (everybody is welcome) here is a step by step to get you "connected"

What do you need?

A PC, a web connection (if you read this, you have) and the original IL2 FB game (ubisoft). The game must be updated to version 1.22 ( Download here ) and you have to sign up at ubi.com ( link here ) to have an account.

How do you join the Armorama Arena?

Launch the Ubi Game Service application (GS4) within the ubi.com folder on your computer (it was downloaded with the 1.22 patch). You should get online and after a while you should see the picture below. Click on IL2 Forgotten Battles

You will be forwarded to the "multiplayer lobbies" room. Click on IL2 : FB - Doghfight

Now you should see the Armorama Arena on your screen. Click on it and then you will have to enter the password circus (may change in the future)

Your IL2 FB application should now launch (note the version number on the bottom left of the screen)

Congratulations! You are in the Armorama Arena! Now choose a location (red or blue) on the map (may change in the future) by clicking on an airfield. You should also see how many players are based on each airfield.

To choose a plane, click on the "armement" (french version) button in the "map" screen. Then you should be able to take any plane in the list, change the settings etc...

Once you are happy with your plane (in fact you will know later if it was a good choice) you can return to the "map" screen and hit the "fly" button. You will "land" on the airfield you choosed previously!

Now you are ready to take off and fight! To know were you are, hit the map key on your keybord (M). To use the radio, press M to show the map and click on the upper area of the screen. Then enter the message with your keyboard and press return once. If you want to share your message with everybody, press enter again. Otherwise make an alternative choice (send a message to friends only for example) with your up and down arrow keys.

That's it! Hope it's not too difficult!

What are the settings we play with?

Separate engine = NO (all engines start together)
Complex engine = NO (too difficult)
Engine overheat = YES (don't push too hard too long!)
Torque & Gyro = YES
Flutter Effect = YES
Wind & Turbulences = NO (let's say the air is quite)
Stalls & Spins = YES (keep minimum speed!)
Vulnerability = YES (off course)
Blackouts & Redouts = YES (we're human after all)
Realistic Gunnery = YES (this is not to my advantage!)
Limited Ammo = YES (Don't shoot more than 2 seconds!)
Limited Fuel = YES (50% should be enough on smaller maps)
Cockpit always on = YES (this is not an arcade game!)
No external view= YES (you won't be able to watch your plane from the outside)
Head Shake = YES
No Icons = NO (planes will be identified red and blue but at range of 1km only)
No Padlock = YES (no artificial following of the enemy)
Clouds = YES (to escape the enemy)
No instant success = YES (enabled)
Takeoff & Landings = YES
Realistic landings = NO (it's hard enough already)
No map icons = YES (the enemy is invisible on the map)
No Minimap Path = NO (you always know were you are)
No Speed Bar = NO (the speed bar will be visible)

The settings may change on popular demand...

When do we play? (mostly)

Every Friday evening
UK = 6:00 - 8:00 PM
France and Netherlands = 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Finland = 8:00 - 10:00 PM
Singapore = 2:00 - 4:00 AM Saturday
Texas = 12:00 - 14:00 PM
Massachusets = 13:00 - 15:00 PM

Every Saturday Afternoon
UK = 1:00 - 3:00 PM
France and Netherlands = 2:00 - 4:00 PM
Finland = 3:00 - 5:00 PM
Singapore = 21:00 - 23:00 PM
Texas = 7:00 - 9:00 AM
Massachusets = 8:00 - 10:00 AM

Other sessions are possible, so stay tuned!

For any request, just post here or PM me! Thanks!

Hi all!

The previous thread was getting too long so I just started another one.

Eetu, I will enable realistic landings tomorrow (Friday). We are usually only three to play so we can give it a try and see if we keep the settings for Saturday.
Rowan (Merlin) suggested to play with icones on the map to see where the action is. I said to him I didn't liked the idea (mainly because I often fly a vulnerable Stuka "Kanonenvogel" in the game ) but I'm not the only one to play so everyone can give his opinion on the matter.
So who's gonna play Friday and Saturday?

Okay, the server's running. It's the usual, right. You can't join to the game, right?
Hold-fast, I can see you in the lobby. Could you try hosting?

Edit: Closed the server. No-one managed to show up.

I tried on numerous occasions to get into the server but failed. I didn't get on here, because I have had problems login in to the site.
Eetu, it was nice to fly with you, although briefly, on the other server.
I seem to have got better performance recently, I'm now able to escape when attacked and am able to attack with speed and even catch the enemy. I am even running out of ammo and landing to re-supply. I might just be getting better but the icons seem to be moving faster on the map?
Anyway I will try and be there tomorrow, still working on the house and SWMBO requires it all complete before Chrimbo

Mal, I noticed that, but Helmut (my rear gunner) got you a few times last week! :-)

EDIT
Sorry but I must pass for Today's session as well... SWMBO wants to make a visit to the "Marché de Noël" in Saverne... well, duty calls... you know what I mean...

Okay, it's Christmas week. I presume we don't have a session on Christmas eve, but how about tomorrow? Or do you still have too many presents to buy and trees to decorate?

Hi Eetu!

Why couldn't we play on Christmas eve? Maybe we could find Santa Claus while we fly and shoot him down!
I won't be able to play tomorrow but could do the server for the Friday session... Saturday would be difficult indeed!

I wouldn't recommend that. Santa won't bring you any presents if you mess with his delivery flights. When you approach with cruel intentions, he whips out his heavy MG from the bottom of his sledge and brings you down faster than you can say "no presents fro christmas"!

Hosting would be nice of you. My hostings have so far been unsuccesful for some reason.

Yep Friday would be good, it seems like only Jean-Luc can host?
I had an interesting game last night, sorry can't remember the name, but it was the first time I had seen it. It was a custom map with a scenario. The allies had 3 bases, which you chose determined what aircraft you would fly, only one type per base, P51, for air superiority, P47 for airfield attack and Hurricane IIC for ground attack. It's a good idea, but the Hurries for furthest forward so that airfield was being attacked all the time by the Axis. To fly cover in a P51 you had to fly quite a way, and if you got shot down it took some time to get back to the action. Consequently 3 or 4 of us were flying Hurri IICs as fighters. I got some cracking long range deflection shots, taking the wing tip, or an elevator off a 109 at 1000m+ is quite cool, cos he then can't get away and close range with 4 20mm cannon is devastating.
I think we have mentioned it before but I think a custom map with a proper scenario with the winning side being the one that completes all missions first, is definitely the way to go.

Something else that might be fun, during the week when we aren't playing on our server, teaming up on one of the other games might be fun. Even without team speak, it would be cool to watch each other’s back. I had a brief spell on another game with Eetu, and I was trying to look out for him. It gave a sense of camaraderie

Hi Mal!

Lots of good ideas here! The custom map would be indeed cool. The scenario also. We only have to find out how it works! :-) But if others made it, why shouldn't we? But we are still not enough players and Eetu will leave us next year... is that right?

Yes, that's correct. I'll have to go to the army the 9th of January. I hope I can get back in six months.
If (and when) I get weekends off, I may join in on some saturday sessions.

Anybody wanting to play over the week-end? Friday or Saturday?
It's been a long time since we played with more than three or four players!

I'm willing to join in today.

I can't play tomorrow, as some of our friends are coming for our annual tradition, the demolition of the gingerbread house! Well, actually it's an iglu this year...

See you in the sky today.

Looks like I can only join the Saturday session. But not tomorrow... darn Parties.
