My buddy and I were talking tonight, wondering ways of world conquest. He brought up that we should have a massive army of dogs. They will be fast and can run up to soldiers and tear them apart. We want to make them rabid to.

Now after we conquer the world I don't know what we are going to do with our decommissioned dog units, perhaps send them to Austrailia.

Would world conquest by means of dogs be possible?

Army of dogs....?

I believe it has been done before.
I think the Romans had platoons of big savage dogs that were used to run at the opposing infantry.

Still a couple of loads of portable lamp posts placed in front of infantry lines should break up the attack...
Of course this would lead to specialised anti-dog units being created, all armed with big sticks and trained in bellowing "fetch" while chucking said sticks in the opposite direction, preferably back at the dog owning armie's lines. Of course the dogs would bring the sticks back so a cunning plan...Baldric...would be to have grenades cunningly desguised as sticks.
And of course JCB, for example, might get the commision for designing a military version of a mechanised poo-scoop ..."gas masks on!"

(Jenny's dog can drive?....the mind boggles...still the standard of driving would probably be a mile better than it is here in Riyadh)...

Cheers

The first sentence is the answer to your question. Within 14 days, your dog army will decommission itself. Permanently. Trouble is, before complete decommissioning, the disease will attack the brain, rendereing your training useless and creating an uncontrolable pack.

The Russians did experiment with dogs during WW2.
They trained dogs to run toward German motorized units. Explosive charges were wrapped arround the animals and when they where close enough the explosives detonate (timers, triggered mines).

The experiments stopped when the roughly trained dogs did not seem to understand the difference between German and Russian motorized units...

I've seen a nice diorama once with this subject.

Dogs alone? Probably not. Simply stay inside your armored vehicle and use a few anti-personnel devices.

Well thats probably because they wouldnt have a hard time walking back to the states :-) Dogs would have a harder time swimming from austrlia to the states than walking from canada to the states;)

I think it was the other way around. The Celts bred and trained the Irish Wolfhound for hunting and war. They used them against invading Roman Legions. At 220+ pounds, the dog was far bigger than a typical human at the time.Pretty awesome weapon!8-|
cheers!

didnt the germans put bombs on the dogs and send them off to the russians who didnt expect a bombed dog but later stoped using them because the dogs would sometimes come back to them?

OK dude, you and a buddy were sitting around wondering how you would do with an army of dogs?
If you could conquer the world...with dogs. An army of dogs.
First, I have to say I smoked some of that same stuff a few days ago and wondered the same thing.

We concluded this.

Eat the dogs.

I don't know what else to say, I feel as if I was caught red handed. :-)

Nah, actually we were sitting in a China Buffet place and the subject of dogs naturally got brought up, and then it went from there.

The second picture was very obviously taken after WW2, maybe even in the 60s. The Russians carried on with mine dogs after 1942.

And war-dogs were used by the Romans and in the Middle Ages too.
