As us old foggies on Armorama approach the site's First Anniversary (Yeah) I was wondering how many models the members have begun and completed this past year. Did Armorama cut into your modeling time - or did it spur you on.

I thought that the Forum participation would slow me down - but - to my surprise I actually began and completed more models in a single year than I have in a long, long, time.

I finished six models (M10 Tank Destroyer, M38A1 Jeep, G/T 'Nancy' (another), M4 Sherman, TIE/Ln Fighter, and my M45 Pershing conversion). And I have four models I know I'm able to complete by the middle of December (X-Wing Fighter, Jedi Starfighter, F4D-1 Skyray / NOTSNIK Satellite Launch Vehicle, and my DUKW) to make 10 models in this year.

What say you all - has the site taken away from precious modeling time - or did it spur you on to different subjects or to complete models sitting on the shelf?

Duhhhhh #:-) Here I sit at my desk and I'm having a very senior moment!
I can't put a date on a couple of my kits.
Looks like I just found a new use for my Palm PDA - Completion dates!

As far as Armorama reducing productivity at the workbench it has DEFINTELY NOT. It has given me the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, confidence, cahoonas, to build more! No my work work on the other hand (as I sit here waiting for my code to compile) may have taken a bit of a hit. Can't tell - we're not billing by the hour!

I`m was not this very productive modeler this year.
This year I started quite late with modeling. Got a new bigger room in the house and for long time I didn`t had a workspace to model on
before the summer holiday I was working on a project called "Eis Frei" and I thought yes holiday that will be a couple of weeks working on the dio. Finished a lot of the figures, Finished the motorcycle, Almost finished the tank (stug 40 f) just needs to be painted.
but as I am a bartender in the village where I live there wasn`t very much modeling involved in this summer. And the project is still waiting for a finishing.
I put "Eis Frei" aside for the diorama contest and "DISTRACTION" was actually the first thing that I began with and also finished this year. So the sad score is .........one

In the beginning my thought was also that the forum participation would increase my modeling time. but I took up the Armorama surfing after a whole summer of working and no scalemodeling The flame started to burn again and although I finished actually only one thing I have experimented a lot with different things that are related to modeling

these were my two cents

Well,
I actually was able to get 6 kits finished, but one took a nose dive down and hit the floor . So, 5 finished kits for me in 2002.

It seems that the Internet is valuable for spurring on modelers - it isn't how many you've finished - it's that you're inspired to model that counts!

I would have to say at least an even dozen. Of both A/C and armor kits with the loss of one to an accident and one to non coperative parts. Which would have made 14. So yeah it stands as 12.

"BUT GUNNIE" He-He-He, Well I should say though that I will be building the M-26 as most likely the last kit of this year. UNLESS I mangage to finish it in enough time to either build the TFT and OR The Tamiya M2A2 Kit.. So keep an eye out for those pictures as well.

I finished 6 WW2 fighters, 2 sets of figures, 1 helo, 1 snaptight with my nephew and will hopefully finish my T-34 by the end of the year (just have weathering/decals to go). Lets see if I do another 11 models a year i will be about 68 before i build every kit I have in my closet right now. All that plastic and not enough time..

I can't comment on how many I started. But I finished three figures
1) a 1/9th scale Warriors 101st Abn figure
2) 150MM Kirin Navy Seal in Desert Storm
3) a 120MM Sol german greneider (Ardennes) I wasn't real happy with.

Now the real question would be how many kits did I buy....

As anyone who has read my posts knows,I only recently re entered the hobby after a year off.I accomplished 1 but I started 5 other projects. If it weren't for this forum and another(that shall remain nameless)i may not have refueled the fire(don't tell my wife...she'll take away my computer). This hobby is my relief from the stress of the day so....this year I will try to make as many as possible which is anywhere between 1 and 100.

Everything I have ever finished was finsihed this year. As I only started last year, by the time I had found this site and Missing links I stripped and painted them all again. So nothing on the shelf was completed earlier than january this year.
What have I done.
Academy M1A1 and Tamiya tank crew
Italeri Lav Tua and Tamiya marines
Italer 750 motorbikes. Italeri schwimwagen
Italeri opel maultier and academy machine gun team
Italeri crusader and 2 resin crew
Italeri big foot
Tamiya willys jeep
Tamiya early M4
Tamiya JS3
Everything except for the crusader and the JS3 is or will be in a dio. The jeep and M4 dio is still underway

on the workbench
Academy mutt and trailer
Academy mutt with tow
Academy hummer and DML marines
Tamiys horch and flak
Italeri Sherman... group build
Italeri M32 recovery vehicle
Italeri M7 priest
Italeri Panther ausf D
Tamiya panther II
Tamiya 1/16 gunner with great coat
Sniper dio

I will never have so many projects underway again. This is killing me.

Gunnie,

What an awesome topic!

I have absolutely started more kits than I can count... but I know that I have finished -

2 Jagdpanthers
Steyr Kommandeurwagen
Wespe
SdKfz 253
Panzer II D

Others that are almost there -
Marder III
Ferdinand
Hetzer
SdKfz 11
Dodge Beep
M3 Stuart

So, that's six finished at another 6 nearly done... not a bad year... though... next year... I'll try for more allied stuff and fewer panzers.

Later,
Tim

Let me see here... In order of completion:
1) Tamiya M60A2
2) Tamiya M41 Walker Bulldog
Uh... A maybe is the Tamiya 1/72 Corsair, but I don't remember when I finished that one.
The models nearing completion:
1/48 F4U Corsair by Tamiya. I just need to paint the thing.
1/32??? Trade Federation Tank. This one will hopefully be done by Dec. 31st.
Halcyon's alien warrior. Yeah, yeah. I know I've been working on this thing forever, but I might actually finish it.

...not this year, though...

#:-)

YodaMan

PS - My goal for the next year is: 6+ (Me109, Corsair, M1A1, TIE, X-wing, Jedi Starfighter)
