Nice to see some new faces in the final stage. You'll never know, they may provide even more surprises there and then.
Congratulations, mate!

How many World Cups have I watched with some pants team having qualified and done poorly and thought "Gee whiz, me Aussie boys in their place could've ruffled some feathers!"
Hit pub watched match, got drunk and unfortunately I couldn't front for work today, and as a result have to endure blue skies, 27C, and time to build my Sherman... And all's well with the world... Only downside is that I tried fixing the flush pipe on my toilet and cracked the pan, so I have to somehow sneak back to my bosses house and get some plumbing parts to repair the thunderbox...

Turkey won 4-2 to Switzerland but lost the chance to go to Germany losing the first game 0-2. it was a stressful game and some bad events,etc..no need to make more comments, better to wait for Eurocup eliminations....but I am happy to know i have at least a friendly team to support in Germany. very very good luck to Roos

This has to be one of the highlights in Aussie Sport
Funny that, untill this Summer you'd never have known that the Ausies had a footbal team.

Of Course Australia needed a Dutch man to get them so far :-) :-) :-) :-)
Congratulations You guys and gals down under Not only with reaching the World Cup but also with your Coach Guus Hiddink (I wonder how many Aussies are able to speak the name Guus the way it needs te be) . a very good man, With a nice list of good stuff on it.. he fully understands the game.
Also for Holland it is interesting.... We now have 2 teams on the WC :-) :-) :-) Last world Cup when we weren`t there we could cheer For Guus Hiddink when he was coaching Korea
Again Congratulations

Well, Australia did have a soccer team Henk... remember, most of the aussies play in England ( and Holland, Culina, Vidmar to name a few ).
The Socceroos have enough talent to get far imho, and have the right coach for the job.
Oh, and may I remind everyone that there have been some absolutely thrilling games here:
Australia - Uruguay 1 - 0 ( 0 - 1 ) Australia wins after penalties
Turkey - Switserland 4 -2 ( 0 - 2 ) Switserland wins on aggregate
Bahrein - Trinidad & Tobago 0 - 1 ( 1 - 1 ) T & T goes on
Slovakia - Spain 1 - 1 ( 1 - 5 ) Spain wins
Czech Republic - Norway 1 - 0 ( 1 - 0 ) Czech Republic wins.
Currently on the bench:
Revell 1/25 Corvette C6
Revell 1/25 Dodge Viper SRT10
Tamiya 1/12 Honda CBR 1100 XX Super Blackbird
Tamiya 1/24 Opel Astra V8 Coupe Team Holzer

Hello Jenny,
First of all, to put it all in context, I live in England, but I'm Dutch. So I take it when you are refering to 'my' team you mean England, not that it matters much as I fear that the Dutch Team will do their usual Prima Donna trick of throwing all their (expensive) toys out of the pram and go out in the first round. I'll still be cheering them on though..
After this long and frankley boring intro, back to the subject in hand. Untill this Summer, the only sports coming from Australia were Cricket and Rugby. And didn't we know it. THE best cricketers in the world. Ashes being a formality to be done during a quiet spell in the season. I didn't even know that Australia had a serious national Football Team. I know that this is more of a reflection on my lack of interest in sport, but there you go. Suddenly we hear nowt about your Cricket or Rugby teams, and all about the Football. Nothing wrong with that, it's natural. That was all.
Unlike bubble and squeek, Ironi is not so good re-heated next morning.
