After eight days of no electricity, we are finally back up! I will never watch another Flintstones as long as I shall live! Damned Wilma!

My wife and I are okay and are now cooking a hot meal while we wait for the hot water heater to finish it's thing so we can get a real shower.
It's amazingly horrific to think what life would be like without power. No PC's, TV, hot water, A/C, no food in stores, no ice, undrinkable water... blah, blah, blah.

Good to be back!

I trust damage was minimal, if at all? I am assuming that you two rode Wilma out?

BTW as a former Floridian, I can and do empathize. And while not 8 days, I know how you feel. We had an ice storm last winter that shut down Muncie for over a week. We were out for a couple of days. Makes you realize how (electrically) wired to computers and the internet Americans are and powerless we are to stopping it (both our dependence and the the storms).

When we had the big blackout a coupel years ago we all realized here how much we rely on electricty.

It was nice however to get to know my neighbours but I got alot of ribbing when they found out I was an electrician.

Glad to see you folks are doing okay down there. We rode out Hurricane Bob on vacation on Cape Cod in 91. Lost power at the rental house noon on Monday and left on Friday. The place had a well and pump, i.e., no power, NO water. Real frustration was the Audubon campground a mile up the road hat power before we did. Minor inconvenience compared to what you folks have been suffering.

Just think, there are people that live with no power every day. Some days when I'm feeling whinny I have to stop and consider how lucky that I really am. Then I start to feel ashamed for not doing more to help the people that don't have these things. Its a catch twenty two.

Today if I help someone get power in some country in their villiage, some war lord will kill everyone there so HE can have the power and the infilstructure for his followers. What do ya do? What do you do?
