Well, guys, it's good to be back home. Operation Hurricane Rita was a success!!!!!!!!

Here is a quick run down: Activated on the 20th, left San Antonio fro Houston on the 23rd. Arrived at the Houston Astrodome on the night the Hurricane hit the shores. Next day, rolled out to Baoumont, Texas. stayed there for a few hours and that night, each team headed out to respective towns. Stayed outside the Jasper High School till this past Saturday. De-mobalized on Sunday. Took the rest of the week off to relax.

Several units where activated. Teams of 50 soldiers and 10 vehicles where made up. I think there where 8 teams. My team was sent to Jasper, Texas to distribute FOOD, WATER, and ICE. Just let me tell you, the convoy from San Antonio to Houston on IH10 was a sight to see. The news helicopters followed us for a few minutes.

Lost a little weight and gained a little muscle. I even got a STATE SARGEANT MAJOR COIN out of it.

One of our guys even got a one day R&R pass. They came a got him in a Black Hawk and he stayed at the Hilton for the night in Houston. He deserved it, didn't stop working the whole time we where there.

Well, good to be home!

PorkChop, got the package and will be working on it soon.

SopMod6, whats the status????

Vodnik, will be ready for some more stuff!!!!

Hi Pete:

Glad you are home and I am sure the people in Jasper and the rest of east Texas are appreciative of your and the other members of your unit's efforts. We probably passed your convoy on the 23rd as we evacuated Houston at 2 oclock that afternoon and made quick progress to San Antonio where we had a nice weekend visit with family. You are correct when you say the convoy was an impressive sight to see as we passed it going west on I-10. As it turned out, the hurricane was a non-event in Houston and we could have just stayed home as we did not get any rain or lose power.

I have a few pictures. The one that got the day pass and a ride on the Black Hawk took most of the pictures for us. With all the pictures he took and the ones he took threw out the year, we are going to put together a yearbook for my unit.

As soon as he downlodas them all from his camera and send them to me, I post what I can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
