Well, here we are in day 7 of continuous rain. We had 5 inches alone in the past 36 hours. Half the towns around me are flooded, or close to it, the rivers are close to cresting, and that will bring more flooding, a few bridges have washed away. And now sink holes are forming in areas.
The town, and block I visited friends in last night, and left at 8:30 PM, was flooded out at midnight, boat rescues by flashlight when the Passaic river over flowed it's banks. (Yes the same river, and about a mile away from where I use to live when I was flooded out)
If all the rain was happening in colder weather we would have gotten about 12 foot of snow this past week........... I wonder what winter has in-store for us!!!!????? :-)
I'll be busy, ------- going to start scratch-building my personal Ark.

And you can keep it Babycakes! My three plus weeks spent on Adak Island made me hate cold and snow forever!!!! I'll take 100 degrees and 100% humidity any day over the slightest bit of cold weather.
Grumpy, send some of your rain to Cincinnnati, we have some room to spare...might slow some of these criminals down at work as well.

We're into our 8th consecutive day of gloom and rain. Up to 11 inches of rain in some towns last Saturday with rain tomorrow, showers on Satuday and a few showers on Sunday according to weather.com. 32 more days to Noah's record.

This post in a way makes me laugh. I was out dancing in the first decent rain we have had for months and here you folk on the opposite side of the world have our share too.
Now I demand here and now that you stop being greedy and send our share back! :-)
Cheers
Cliff

PS> we ended up with 23mm (just under an inch) and are hoping for more today. Mind you we need about 1 metre (3 feet) over a week or two to do any real good here.

Dave and Al,
just finished watching a live news report on both CNN and Fox and all I can say is WOW!!! I can't believe the flooding and damage that was caused by all the rain you had. I see that NJ has activated a State of Emergency, level 3 of 5. I hope you guys and others make it with out further damage or loss of life.

Last Tuesday, Boonton, the town next to me was on a drought emergency, no washing cars, watering lawns, etc. (Remember Boonton--- they shot the Sopranos there a few weeks back)..... The reservoirs were all low. Today they are all full, and at flood stage, and being dumped.......
