Figure painting is still one my weakest part of modelling. Mind briefly sharing the techniques you used to paint this figure?

I'm still learning myself as i go along, but do feel that I'm getting some kind of consistency. The whole fig is hand brush painted. A fine point brush is necessary especially to paint the face. If you get the face rite, then the rest is no problem. i use Tamiya flat flesh plus a bit of brown paint the skin. Then, I paint the eyeballs white and a dot of brown/ blue/ gey for the retina. If the whites are a bit too big, it's O.K. U can trim it off with skin color again. Then I use diluted flesh plus more brown or orange to highlight the lines of the face like the eye socket area, along the nose, cheek bones, wrinkles. Once it dried, I will use diluted flat black to highlight again those areas that are much deeper like the sides of the mouth and also the eyes. Then probably u have to do some kind of shading with different tones of flesh to accentuate the cheekbones, chin , below the neck. I'm not how much of help this is but glad to be of assistance. The first few times, it's trial & error I guess.

Its always very hard to paint camouflage and make it looks right. I think you did well in this area, good job!
I haven't done a 1/16 before but would love to try it someday... maybe doing up a Rommel fig. Thank you for sharing your painting method

Hi Psyfool... very nice figure indeed.

The camo on the trooper looks good. But the question I have is the netting on the helmet. What did you use for it?

I knew someone would ask that! It's some kind of netting I found usually used to wrap things up like Potpouri, sweets, fruits something like that. I tink u shd be able to finds it at gifts shop or Spotlight perhaps.

It's those fragranted dried flowers. U might also find the net at florists..

A good netting for smaller scale models would be those wedding veils so the next time you see a bride walk past you, think about how many camo nettings you can use from her wedding dress.

Very nice Psyfool. I would add more lighting to the figure when you take the photo cause i would like to see how you did the face and catch the details on his uniform.

Hi Psyfool... other than what Jeremy said about the lighting on the details which I some what would love to see.. Everything looks somewhat good!

Nice idea of putting the tree in... I'm guessing it's taken from a fallen branch from the park?? LOL... remember to get rid of any living insects..

Ah.. one more thing is the ground work... you used plastercine (correct me if i'm wrong here, just making a guess again).. Some parts of the plastercine is "showing"... maybe you can add more sand on to cover it up??

Anyway.. it's another awesome piece of modelling from you Mr Psyfool..

The groundwork is plastercine. I did the dio setting quite hurriedly and completed it within 15mins! Prob I need to touch up the edges a bit. The 'Tree' is not from the park. I tink I mentioned this b4. It's actually a souvenir pencil from Phuket. I'm sure u've seen this or received it b4 from someone. If I take a photo from the back, u can still see 'Phuket' in pink! :-) I did it so hurriedly, I didn't even bother to remove the word!

Haha, and if anyone asks you why the word "Phuket"... you can tell them because the Red Devil got blown there...
