Okay guys, besides military models, dioramas and figures, what other hobbies do you enjoy? I myself enjoy the continuous joys of home repair and remodeling. Bob Villa is a god! LOL I also have a 1972 Triumph Spitfire that I am slowly restoring, keyword there is slowly. I also enjoy sports car racing, once was a member of SCCA. Still travel to afew races a year, CART race in Cleveland, Mid-Ohio and the F1 race at Indy. And on the slower side I make wine.

For me it's golf, yeah I golf....sorta. I'm also into computers, and I love to read about cool cars I'd love to drive but will never be able to afford; Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette (I could really use a smiley that looks like Homer Simpson drooling here... :-) ) I also take great interest in architecture, hopefully my future career.

Ron,

In the summer, I try to raise five species of local frogs and newts in my ponds: most are nearly extinct and protected species.
I love to cook - Asian cuisine : Chinese, Thaļ, Japanese, Indian...
At least once a year I like to see a bit of the world. Been there, done that...
And my work is my hobby : civil aviation.
There's home improvement (including heavy duty) and gardening.
And last but not least, we have a 5 yrs old son to keep us busy !

Although my work can be really hectic ( ) I always try to take some time during the week for sports... You could say I'm sportaholic; soccer, basketball, tennis, street hockey, lately badminton... you name it, I play it... Hopefully this weekend I'll be off for the coast to do some sailing.

Ha ! Not easily... I spend many hours looking for frog eggs each spring. I have a small pond that holds no natural enemies where I put them to hatch. Then all I do is feed them till they are little frogs, and put them back in nature, my dad's pond, neighbours' ponds, etc....
The newst is a more difficult story. I got a few adults from different sources (mostly friends that have them in their pond or found them hidden under a rock in their garden or something) that courted and hatched eggs last year. I had plenty of juveniles, so I'm curious if they have survived the winter frost.
My son (5 yrs) is fond of the project, too. Together, we spend many summer hours with our nose over thewater :-) :-) :-)

I like to go fishing when I can. I tie my own flies for fly fishing and also make my own bass fishing lures. I guess no matter what I do I like to build things. I also read history for fun and spend a lot of time on the computer playing games and studying on how to make them get along better.

My other hobby is saving my pennies to visit WW II European Battlefields. If you have not been to Normandy, you have not tasted deeply of a life. Pointe du Hoc will put a lump in your throat. Off to the Battle of the Bulge this year.

If my wife were to answer this she would say I have too many hobbies. If it's a sport, I enjoy it whether playing or watching. Golf is my sport of choice though and has been for several years. I've recently taken up swimming due to ankle problems and am really starting to enjoy that as well. Like Jan, I love to cook. If I had not chosen a career in the military, I may have pursued a career in cooking. I spend more time in the kitchen than my wife...lol! Being in the Navy, I do enjoy reading naval history books, particularly WWII Pacific Theatre. I dabble in computers frequently from building to web page programming, graphic design, 3D design and gaming.

I agree here, that cliff makes you wonder how the Germans didn't stop the Rangers. I've been fortunate enough to see a 45th anniversary of D-Day and 50th anniversary of Dunkirk. Visiting Patton's grave in Luxemburg is interesting too.

My other main hobbies are figure sculpture and miniature machining, both of which complement modeling nicely. I started airbrushing as a part of model-making, and now it's growing into a hobby by itself. I compose and arrange music, but that is on hold until I move (again) and get a place to set up my synthesizers. I'm also interested in epistemology and roadsters (currently a 1995 limited-edition Miata -- maybe a Shelby Cobra if I win the Lotto).

I used to have oriental cooking as a hobby. That went so well I now have dieting as a hobby.

Cool! My sister is a biologist who lives in the country and has a pond. I've been trying to get her to do something creative like this. The pond is rapidly undergoing succession and will soon be a marsh.
