I'm getting a little tired of a month after finishing a model, watching parts fall off. I've been using testors (mostly becuase of availitabillity). What is a really good quality glue? Perferabally easy to find. What do you guys use?

Thanks

I use either Superglue (for PE & Resin) or Tamiya Extra Thin Cement

Superglue (sometimes also referred to as CA) for PE or anywhere I need a quick bond, Humbrol liquid cement otherwise. I find that any liquid cement should give a strong bond provided it's run into the joint and able to dissolve each of the mating surfaces

I use plastruct.. a liquid weld type cement.. (Plastruct, Ambond, TeneX) its plastic to plastic and basicly welds the two peices together. but easier to use than Superglue (i.e. CA glue)

I've had parts also come apart using testors liquid cement although I still use it for some things.. If you use it to glue parts on a painted surface you get a weaker bond.. (pretty much the same with any glue)..

For small parts glued onto a painted model I tend to use superglue where possible and if the joined area won't be seen I scrape off a little of the paint between the parts for a better bond.

my favorite superglue (ca glue) is zap-a-gap. as it seems to store better than some of the others...

I personally like Tamiya Cement.

The occasional super glue/whiteglue is used too.

HTH..

I use ordinary automotive acrylic thinner for plastic.

CA glue for other materials.

Hi Angela,

What brand do you use? Just curious...

I use liquid red testors in the triangle bottle (same as u?) and have no problems.. The only grip i have about this product is the nozzles clog in the bottle constantly for me.

I recomend the Plastruct and other brands tipes of Plastic Weld ( though have become hard to find here in Chile ) Itīs the best glue i have found to glue plastic parts, and last more than a month . but you have to be careful, the welding itīs very fast. If you want a good gel or liquid, the Red Testors itīs good enough, but itīs toxic and has become hard to find, itīs seems that Testors is not producing it anymore (at least, havenīt arrive anymore to Chile). The Academy Gel Tube itīs nice, too, but hard to apply (the manufacture of the tube itīs pretty bad). A spanish company (Ceys Modeling) makes apretty good one also.
For PE and resin or putty, Super Glue itīs the key.
Hope this info helps
Best regards
