Ok, before you guys start chucking stones :-) .. Im not a fan... Never have been... But to be honest, I think the fans were not even considered during the stike.. I feel kinda the same way about baseball.. Havent watched or gone to a game since they were on strike.

That lock out was needed to change to CBA or you could forget about small market teams. No more Edmonton, Nashville, Florida, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Calgary, Tampa, etc.

I am really excited about this season, too. Everything looks more even, no more Detroit-Colorado uber-teams (sorry Alan :-) ).

The new season looks good. Faster, higher scores. More talent spread around and Edmonton beat their old nemisis the Avalanche 4-3. Can life be any better?

Bruins didn't do so well against Hubs. Not sure I agree abut the call that gave Montreal power play with 25 seconds left but I guess that's all part of the game.

What do you guys think about the way the game is officiated so far? I think that they are going a bit overboard with some of the calls.

Marty

I think the calls will settle down in a couple of weeks. Have to stop the old clutching and grabbing style and let the game flow freely. Once players get a better feel for what will and won't be called I think you will see less penelties.

From what I've seen highly skilled teams are bombarding the goalies. The Red Wings are definitely a smaller defensive team but the speed makes up for losing their goons.

I think goalies may be demoralized for a while as they get shelled
