Hobbycity.co.nz is another site you can buy stuff online. They arent necessarily the cheapest though. There is also hobbydirect.co.nz but their range isnt the greatest either.

Im definitely taking a trip to AceHobby this weekend. Been wanting to get the M2A2 Bradley and it seems AceHobby is cheapest.

AceHobby
Name 1/35 US M2A2 BRADLEY IFV
Price $49.95

Hobby City
Manufacturer: Tamiya
Product Number: TAM 35152
Price: $54.95

AcornModels
1/35 US M2A2 Bradley Infantry Fighting V
$50.95
TAM 35152

We really need a site in NZ that compares prices of models.

Quite right. The only issue i have with this is reliability as if parts go missing in the box, theres little the seller can do since they cant replace anything.

Yep well I guess you need to weigh up the price benefits against the inherent risks associated with buying from individuals.
On the subject of missing parts, does that happen very often? I was in Acorn models' store once and one staff member mentioned to another about a client's purchase having parts missing. This involved mutual eye rolling; I dont think they believe customers who say that, but I guess they have no option but to replace the parts in question or provide a new kit. I have, on a number of occasions thought that parts were missing, only to have them turn up again,!

User error does happened often.

Parts going missing is less likely when you purchase it from the stores directly. I cant say the same when its purchased from someone who had purchased it overseas and brought it over. More often than not, the person opens the box and forget to place things back. This is my main concern.

For Tamiya anyway, its easy to tell if the box is open as the zip lock bags are typically sealed. If the bags are sealed and you cant see the parts in there....then there is no dispute. Either way, my preference is always to buy from the stores. Just my 0.02.

Just spotted this topic and was wondering if anyone buys from offshore online stores? And if so which ones.

I personally dont buy offshore as the shipping cost tends to bring it back to a similar price as they are sold here. If it turns out to be only a small savings by buying it offshore, there is always the risk of not receiving the parcel which kinda offsets the benefits of the small savings.

If i had to.....i would be buying from the stores advertised on this site.

I buy things from overseas that I can't get here, mostly AM parts and 120mm figures.

I've used squadron, and they are pretty good. Colorado miniatures has a great selection of interesting figures.

For me, I save 50% ($800-$1,000) per item inc. shipping on my 1/16th scale RC Tanks by shopping online overseas.
