Probably your closest out of the bottle match will be XF-60 (Desert Yellow).

To give you an idea, the ODS version of the Bradley calls for TS-46 overall. The original release of the M2A2 I'm working on calls for XF-60 overall, so I'm guessing they're equivalent.

If you find XF-60 to be too dark, you can lighten it with Buff (XF-57).

Hope this helps.

After making the OIF M1A2 and the M113A2, both of which required the TS46, i would have to say that neither the desert yellow nor the buff colour comes close to matching. I went to the LHS and placed them side by side and you can definitely see a difference.

I made the fatal mistake of painting my M1A2 in Desert Yellow which came out darker than TS46.

I ended mixing TAM's Flat White, Buff and a touch of yellow to get it as close to the reference photos of the M113s in OIF as possible. You got to go easy on the yellow as it will dominate the mixture. If you do place too much on your initial mixture, dont worry as it actually works out better if you have your base coat slightly more on the yellowish side and then spray another lighter coat over it.

This is still work in progress but the end result for my model looks like this.

Dear Jazza & Kevin

Well after reading your posts, i did some tests i'm conveice that your option remains the best, the mixing can be tricky but it's seems to give the best results.

Amazing to see TAM unable to give a normal bottle for the TS46
Why??
cheers

An exact, out of bottle match for modern CARC Sand, as used on current US vehicles, is Testors Model Master Sand MM #1706, FS (Federal Standard)#33531. It is based on US Military paint specs. No idea what Tamiya's colors are based on, but none look like modern CARC Sand.

I asked this exact same question once but concluded that its most likely related to marketing.
