Hello,

I was surfing the net looking for some elusive kits and some background information and was attracted by this site, so thought it would be worthwhile joining.
I have been collecting and building kits for over 15 years. I have covered all the major and minor 20th century conflicts in various scales of aircraft, 135th scale armour and vehicles. I have also dabbled in some of the decent scale civil aircraft that have been produced on rare occasions.
So far I have not gone into ship kit modelling in a big way but I was tempted by the Revellex Matchbox 172 Flower class corvette and Revell 172 Uboat.
As yet I don't have the book on Frog kits and I suspect that the answer to this is probably in there. However in its absence, can anyone tell me what happened to the mould for the 196 (?) Douglas DC7c which was available at the same time as the Britannia ? Most of the old Frog kits have reappeared under various manufacturers brand names but the DC7c seems to have disappeared.
I need a 148th scale Yak 9p for my Korean war collection but neither ICM or Alinger produce this version.
Is it that the modifications to arrvive at a P varient are not externally obvious to the extent that I could use a K and just decal it to suit ?
Glad to be a member and look forward to conversations to come.

All the best,

Kristian.

Hi Kristian and welcome to Armorama.

Alexey Matvienko (translated by Alex Ruchkowsky) did an excellent short article on the Yak 1/7/9 family over at VVS research page / Soviet Warplanes.

Alexey Matvienko tends towards ICM's Yak-7 as a good (not to mention cheap) basis for conversions in respect of the Yak 1/7/9 family.

Hope this helps.

Hello All,

Very many thanks for the warm welcome I received. Also, many thanks to Eric for the link, very interesting. For anyone else interested in modelling the Yak 9p take a look at
http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/ModelArticles/powers_yak9p.html
I have e mailed MPM with the suggestion that they might like to include a 148 Yak 9P in their range. If I get a reply, I will post it to the group.

All the best,

Kristian.
