I am not British. What does NAAFI mean? I have seen it a lot but have never seen it defined. Also how about VAT? Just curious............................

NAAFI stands for (i think) Navy, Army, Air Force Institute,
VAT is Value Added Tax ( another way for the government to rob us blind.)

VAT - Value Added Tax. It is a tax on the final consumption of certain goods and services.

NAAFI - Navy Army Air Force Institutes is the official trading organization of HM forces

NAAFI's purpose is:

  • To provide home retail and leisure services to the British Armed Forces and their families, wherever there is a need.
  • To meet the needs of our customers by providing quality products, priced competitively, available consistently in attractive environments and served by trained, friendly efficient staff.
