Hi all. I just got a Fuji Finepix 602z from eBay and am going to get a charger and rechargeable batteries for it. Any recommendations of what to go for please?

Thanks for the advice Derek. It was largely reading some of your earlier posts that decided me on going for the 602z by the way!

Well Im a battery expert (Im a chemical engineer for Energizer Battery)

Now, Im bias but Energizer Rechargables are truely the best. Nickel Metal Hydride battery (NiMH) are the best and last the longest. Energizer sells this kind. No rechargables will last as long as Good akaline batteries (Duracell or Energizer). If you can afford to buy lithium batteries, they will outlast others by 15x, but will cost 5x more.. HTH

I use Rayovac 15-minute rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride 2000mAh batteries and a 15-minute charger. They work really well and stay charged for what seems like eternity. I use them in my Fuji Finepix S7000 camera.

Thanks for all your answers gents. I've gone for an ENCORE CLASSIC CHARGER, made by Uniross apparently, that comes with 4 x 2300 NiMH batteries, £9.99 from eBay. Will have to try and get some extra batteries as well though I think. Thanks again

Hi

I have found that for high power applications like a digital camera (and RC car radios), NiMH batteries far outclass alkaline batteries, giving more the twice the run time.
I have a Canon A95 and recently took about 375 pics 5 1/2 minutes of video using two sets of GP2300 batteries. My one experience of alkaline batteries was when I forgot to charge my spare NiMHs and ended up using a set of Duracells - these only lasted for about 100pics.
This is also shown here:
The Great Battery Shootout,
where the alkalines are again resoundingly beaten by the rechargeables.

As far as chargers go, I have had great success with the GP PowerBank U-Smart (The kit I got also came with 8 2300s).

Cheers

I use the Energizer NiMH 2500 mAh. I find it OK, I bought together with the charger. BTW, just an advice, never go out w/o a spare pack of Alkaline batteries...just incase your rechargeables got used up at least you have immediate replacement

Cheers

I have a Uniross Encore fast charger with 4 2300 mah NiMh batteries for my digicam. It charges either 2 or 4 batteries from flat in between 3 and 4 hours. What I also like about it is that it comes with a lead to plug into a car cigar lighter socket so you can recharge batteries when away from home
It cost me £17.99 post free from online
