I've been modeling for 30 yrs. I work in a corner of the basement behind the furnace. Ductwork gives me a 5 ft. ceiling. A 2ft. wide workbench on 2 walls leaves me a 2ft. alley around the furnace. Lots of shelves above bench. I would NEVER spraypaint around open flame. I would use an old heavy dull scapel to pop the lid off the paint, candle burning as I did acouple of hours ago.Wearing an old polyester skijacket.Fire extinguisher at the top of the stairs. Punctured the can.BOOM. I'm on fire now. Get the coat off. Burn hands to 2 degree I think.Wife shows up with extinguisher. No room.Grab,spray,out. Causalties; V2,DUKW,Brit FAT,coat, hands, beard, glasses, foam everywhere.Haven't looked close yet other than to make sure it's out. I'm going to sit here and fondle ice cubes and type with my little finger for a while. Happy modeling

Now it is time to ask SWMBO for a better room to work in.Open flames are just wrong near our solvents ,paints and glues.I am NOT A retentive, but I have a mantra while sitting and working,"Don't try to catch the knife if you drop it..." (++) (++)

Sounds like we have a candidate for the Darwin Awards.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope you recover well and do find a better place to model, preferably away from open flames.

Geez! Forget the models! I hope you're ok!

Go see a doctor...burns are nothing to mess around with.

Hope things turn out ok and ....seriously, go see a doc to make sure.

Quoted Text

have you ever heard of a british TV show from the 70's called some mothers do have them?

ooohh Betty...

A touch below the belt maybe, but that's British humour for you. Another favourite is ' my family ' , although it's funnier to watch it on the TV than to experience it at home.... :-) :-) :-)

Best wishes Earl, hope the damage to both yourself and the cellar and models was not to serious and that you recover soon. And 95bravo's advice is sound, if you have serious burns, go see your doctor. Burns are prone to infections, and need to be treated.

Cheers
Henk
