Hey dudes,

I just managed to catch an advanced screening of the first episode for the movie series "Over There" and i have to say its got the makings of a good series. I can see why its only aired on Sky due to its brutality and violence but it does give what i would imagine is a clearer picture of the war on terror.

For those of you who have been to the army, it will bring back some memories as it did for me.

Definitely catch it if you have sky.....and if you dont....get someone who does to record it for you.

On the plus side, you get to see the vehicles (armor) that we model in action plus it will give you some weathering ideas.

I would like to see this series. I have read a few comments about it and soldiers who were over there think that its not really that good. But I suppose for the average Joe Blog its just fine

Might be a dangerous course that...

I saw a trailer for it on the toob last night.

First time I found out that the Yanks were using FV432s in Iraq...
My guess is the Pentagon couldn't spare any M113s for those goddam commie pinko liberal film makers to use, and the production people were thrown back onto the 'what vehicles can we buy cheap off the second hand market?' ruse - on the understanding that most of the Great Unwashed out there in TeevyLand wouldn't know the difference between a shoebox and a tin of cat food...

Looking forward to being disgusted with the naked displays of dewy eyed US patriotism and racist portrayals of the Iraqis too

Hi Guys

I will have to stop buying models so I can get Sky.

Plus I try to avoid TV so I can model.

But seriously I will see if I can get it recorded.

Regards

Sean

Some of the vehicles were authentic as far as i could tell. There were brief scenes for the M1A2 Abram and a frontal of the M1046 Humvee which would have been hard to fake unless they did a whole swap of the chasis.

Hi Jazza

Thanks for the heads up.

Best I don't watch it as "family" viewing.

Hi Matt

No sorry I don't.

Do the Company itself list an Asia Pacific supplier on a website?

Have you tried a google search?

After watching more episodes on this series, i have to say this is easily my favourite series for the year next to Stargate SG-1!

Im a war movie fanatic so i do wish they make more of this type of series as we have an excess of hospital / ER type series as it is.

Thanks Jazza

Are yes Stargate.

Got to agree on the hosptial/ER front about as bad as all the CSI programmes great idea but just too much of the same theme.

So now it's finished, what did everyone think?

I thought it was reasonably entertaining as long as you didn't nick pick too much regarding the total lack of any sensible tactics displayed.

At least the blonde chick was cute...

i thoroughly enjoyed it even though i did spot a few mistakes here and there. Ultimately it is a show made for tv so one would ultimately be looking in the wrong place for accuracy anyway.

i do hope they come up with another season of it. Its certainly a nice change from all the reality and ER series.
