I hope that you gave this decision a lot of thought. If you did congrats. The military can be very rewarding. Take advantage of all the opintunities that it has to offer. Also remember no matter how bad you might think you have it, there are many thousands more before you that served and you too will serve with honor. I salute you for your courage and dedication. Good luck.

When do you ship off to Basic? (Parris, Pendelton?)
What do you plan to do in the military (Marine Corp version of MOS)? I am looking at (and partly in) ROTC myself, so I have a slight idea of what you are going through!

Best of luck in the Corps. And let us know how everything is going.

haha no, though some of my friends think I should because I'm so 'brave' by joining the Marines, not worried about medals, just out to have some good ol' fasioned fun :-)

I would just like to say "ThanK You!" for volunteering to serve. You should be proud, most people your age are more than happy to stay home and let others defend their freedom and country. Lastly, as a Marine Rifleman, you will definately find yourself in the thick of it.....Be Careful! Good luck; God speed; and Thaks for your service.

Congratulations and welcome to the gun club! Don't sweat the small stuff at boot camp. Do your best and you'll be out the other side in no time.

Infantry, huh? I did that for my first five years in the Corps, it was a rewarding and eye-opening experience.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to drop me a line, and I'll see if I can give you some answers.

Yea, I'm not sweatin' boot camp right now, 1 its too far away, and there isnt anything I can do to avoid it, I figure if toughing it out for 13 weeks on Parris Island is all I have to do to become a Marine, then damn, I'll do it.

I chose infantry because it looked fun and challenging, and maybe I'll do some of the special duties like Embassy duty

Baaaaaaa er...I mean no..it's not that fun. But, it'll be over quick and you'll soon forget about it....the trauma of the MEPS physical that is...However, if and when you take that oath, a feeling will wash over you that you've never exeprienced before....

Congrats on your enlistment Shain, you'll enjoy your time in service and the adventure that it offers. I did.

Welcome to the brotherhood.

I was not a marine, but I was from the infantry, Well you made the right choice for a career. I did my stint in the army and i love every single minute or it. It sure beat what i am doing now. I am a firefighter now eventhough the job requirements are just as demanding, Nothin beats combat and being with people who are there with you from day 1.

All the best,
Platoon Sergeant Erizemen

From another Firefighter and Army vet I wish you all the best. When you get tired of walking, try going into tanks. Tanks? You're welcome.
Good luck, brother.
