Will anyone here be playing Day of Defeat Source? I was a big fan of the earlier versions, so I will be playing this one too. I just wanted to see if there will be anyone playing so I can keep track in the future and maybe hop on a server or two with some people here and have a good time.

I'm not sure if DoD Source will be free since I've got Half-Life 2. Played some Counterstrike Source and it seems to be a little better. I'd like to see some new maps in DoD.

It would have to tear me away from Battlefield 2 and Joint Operations though.

I'm an avid fan of DoD original, in fact the clan I'm in had a match just last night !!

I can't wait for DoD Source, in fact it's the one thing I'm waiting for before I buy HL2 even though it's a good game in it's own right.

I wish the British in DoD had a belt feed machine gun. The Bren gun chews through the clip pretty quick.

yep but it's very useful undeployed as well as with the bipod down. I find the Bren as easy to use as the BAR in a moving support role. It would be nice if they did have a better fixed position MG, but I think the enfield more than makes up for it !

Changing clip with the bren whilst deployed is a scary moment that has to happen all too often!

Man, I miss the glory days of getting off some good headshots with the Bren un-deployed. It really made people angry. Hopfully I will see some of you guys when the game comes out.

my clan has a server rated very highly in the UK, it's either top or very near top rated on many server lists.

Look out for the Blitzkrieg Clan Server (B*K), you will find me there as B*K2 || Pedigree

DOD was THE game that i was totally hooked on when it first came out. It sorta went crap the minute STEAM came into the picture.

I used to admin on the kustomkettle servers which plays custom maps but gave up after awhile. Probably will be giving DOD Source a miss.

steam's just a launcher, admittedly it slows you down at times, but it's not changed the game mate...you ought to dust off your copy and get back into it. There's a pretty exciting competetive side to it these days as it's a popular mod.

Source will be doubly so, especially if it allows for tactical interraction with the map, barricading doors with furniture etc etc.

The new Source version screenshots look great. I think it's supposed to be out next month. Looks pretty interesting.

I will believe it when i see it although good softwares always takes time so taking longer isn't really a bad thing.

I just completed my download of the game and it's going to be fired up on the 26th of this month.

I can see that all modeling is going to come to an end!

You are right. It's not free. Anybody can pre-load now and you can pre-purchase prior to the 26th as well for a 10% discount which makes it about $17.

yeah i thought so. Because of that, they are going to lose quite alot of players in the DOD community. Admittedly there will alot of servers running the old version still but as far as NZ is concerned, the community is already dying. CS appears to still be going strong though.

wow nice. Looks like they improved the user interface a little.

How much more interactive are the maps anyway?

They are more interactive....but still pretty static. You can move barrels and crates and such. But no huge model damage is shown.
