Hi

anyone on a diet?

I'm a little more barrel shaped these days....long gone are the days of the lean and svelte.

The wife....HWSBO....tells friends I have a special diet...I only eat what I like.

Ah well....pass me another bacon buttie please.

Cheers

When I stopped smoking in 2000. I suddenly lost like 10 kg in a course of 3 months. I gained back the 5 kgs. I guess because I didn't crave sugar as much anymore and I was able to jog longer. But I eat whatever I want though I don't eat beef.

Well as I drink my diet soda, and munch on my energy bar, after walking my two mile walk, I guess you could say I am a diet. I agree with Jonathan though that fad diets don't work, long term. The only way to control your weight is to cut down on your calorie intake, and increase your calorie burning, through some kind of excercise. I find the most effective way is to just watch what you're eating. Too many times I've been on a See Food diet, I see food and I eat it.

An aside...

A couple of years ago, some friends who frequent places like gyms and the like...asked
"Why don't I get down to the gym...."

Quick as a flash Emily said...
"No way.....Peter likes to keep in shape".

But I find I loose weight when I'm home in UK in spite of drinking loads of beer etc and eating bacon, sausage etc. (Not allowed in Saudi). It must be that when home I am a lot more active and walk a lot and work on the house.

Here its so damned hot and there's nowhere to walk....security situation.
Plus doing 6 days of at least 12 hours most days at work, it leaves precious little for anything else.
But in 10 days or so it'll be home for good so I could end up needing a size smaller in the clothing department.

Cheers
Peter

About a month ago I went to the doctor. After a blood test he said "It's not a matter of IF you'll have a heart attack or stroke, but WHEN." Seems that my blood pressure and cholesterol were both high. So for the past three weeks I've been watching what I eat very carefully. No fat, no cholesterol. I hate rabbit food and love all that's bad for you (cheeseburgers, steak, eggs, sausage, etc). But you gotta do what you gotta do. I've lost about 5 pounds so far, and if I could just bring myself to start excercising regularly, I'd be losing a lot more. But one step at a time I guess.

Man, getting old stinks!
