Mornin' Mal

I've got permission from Paul Lloyd and the IPMS mag to have the old junior jotter pages used on here. I'm up to about 8 at the moment and I've stored them in BMP format.

I'll go at the rest soon, so, with their size, I'll send them on a CD.

Hi Mal,
I'm back after a very busy time at work.
Its good to see that you pulled it off and have got the IPMS/Armorama UK thing of the ground and running.

Shaun, Telford is in November on the 19th and 20th.

Now to make up for lost time, TD entry to finish, club display kits to finish, Sig display kits to finish, and more busy times ahead at work.
Can someone please invent the 28hour day

Ciao

Re the website and forums. I noticed a forum/feature on the main site with items for sale and wanted. Could we have our own "Multi Coloured Swap Shop" or something, where we swap those occassional! items that hang around which we don't know what to do with for different items to have around and not do anything with. It may be much chummier to swap than sell. Postage may be a problem but how about a swap meet at a central motorway services every couple of months. We might even be able to get Keith Chegwin involved, he surely can't charge much these days.

Hi Shaun,
As Luciano says Telford 19th and 20th November, see you there?

Ian,
Thanks

Luciano,
Glad to have you back, see you at Telford. Ciao

Ross,
Like the "Multi Coloured Swap Shop" idea and the swap meet, but we might want to do that at Telford rather than a motor way cafe. Mind you there would be nothing stopping members getting together to swap stuff so a forum for buying selling swapping is cool.

I have written the first of my articles in the Back to Basics series

Hi Mal.............
"Swap meet"????? ....this could open up a "Can of Worms"........big argument the other year with kits on sale at tables...was frowned upon by many members (in Mag) and caused a bit of a "stooshie"(argument )as some people had more to sell than kits on tables----moderation in all things????
Very few people ever "swap" kits
aye

Mal

Here's an idea.

A few years ago, the Nats used to have a kit swap every year. This was run by a branch who charged a 20% fee (ie 20% of the sale price) and paid IPMS 10% of the total towards the cost of room hire etc.

It's a bit late this year, but why not have IPMS Armorama running a kit swap at Telford in 2006. If there's enough members going, it may be viable and would give the branch some funds for display boards etc.

Re a "swap meet" . I mentioned the idea of a swap meet as I felt there were a few good reasons not to do this at the nationals, so we could come up with another way of recycling those things we may never get round to building for something else. Possibly a list of "want/want to be shot of" on the site, which could lead to some kind of meet. I also felt that postage costs of swap only kits may be steep, which may make a big "swap-only" meet more attractive.

Just my sixth of a shillings worth.

I'm not sure that it would be a good idea for IPMS Armorama to run a swap meet at Telford. We will only get to physically meet at Telford (and a few of us at other regional shows), it would be fraut with disaster trying to organise it over the net. A forum for swaps might be a good idea, could be buy and sell as well. If there's enough interes groups can arrange to meet say at regional shows. Swapping could be done in the car park, then off to the show for the add ons. I say swap in the car park because you shouldn't take kits along to shows to swap or sell, unless you pay the vendor fees.

Sorry for seemingly ignoring this but things got a bit hectic at home, just beginning to calm down now so I'm almost back.
On the site so far are a couple of test? forums, a Dingforum.................... "A forum for posting information, questions and other topics regarding IPMS-UK, the online Armorama branch, or other local branches".
IPMS-UK Armorama Branch....................... "For member discussions regarding club events, meetings, or other business".
Both self explanetary, the IPMS-UK-A forum would also be where "meetings" are held. I have an idea how this will work, more later.
So a few other forums might be:

Novice and younger modeller Forum...................If you are a novice at this hobby or are a younger modeller and have questions that you feel are basic then post them here. (If there is anything that you don't know or something you would like to know more about then it is a perfectly legitimate question, ask away)

Tips and Tricks..............Ask about and post about tips and tricks you use while modelling.

Modelling Questions..............Ask your modelling related questions here (1 forum rather than one for each genre, due to the lower number of members than the main site. The idea though would be to use links to relevent forums on the main sites to help answer questions)?

Multi Coloured Swap Shop.............For if you have something to buy, sell or swap.

I would also like to see a "meet the members" gallery, where each member has a number of there own models on show and a write up about their passion. The idea is that visitors can check this out and then ask a particular member about a particular aspect. So:

Ask the Modeller............Seen something in the members gallery that you would like to know more about, ask him/her here.

I think we should keep to just a few forums, more can be added if necessary, others can be combined if the situation warrants it later.

Thoughts please
Mal
