As allways I'm impressed with Steves work, but how the hell do you post a video clip? That is so cool.

Hi Steve
The colour you are looking for is matt Dark Earth (see
eHobbies for colour sample).
Originally this was the colour sprayed on almost all SADF vehicles. As can be expected this colour varied depending on batch and source and even undercoat. The African elements also took its toll on the colour and vehicles were quickly ‘bleached’.
You can paint a vehicle in SADF service with anything from Tamiya’s Dark Earth right up to their Desert or Dark yellow. I’d suggest a Dark Beige as an alternative. Humbrol's matt 187 Dark Stone, also looks promising.
Hope this helps.

Steve,
Another great scratch build, the way you pay attention to detail is amazing. I love to see your projects from start to finish. Looking forward to you next build.
Hey maybe someday you'll figure out a way to motorize them, that would be cool.
It feels like bible camp…Only I’m not crying pretending I’m somewhere else.

as usual with your builts, I'm speechless. Truly amazing and beautiful work. This is the essence of scratchbuilding. I will just sit here with my jaw on the floor for a couple of minutes before I do anything else...
...as I was saying, this is unbelievable. The level of detail and your skills are just unbelievable. My hat's off to you:) keep up the good work!!
cheers,

Hi There
Well done on the scratch building - it is one area that I have not worked on in great detail,..yet.
I have some more colour reference photos that you may find useful. Humberol dark earth is a very good base - bearing in mind that the real vehicles fade very quickly when exposed to sunlight almost every day, and were exposed to a great deal of dust.

Steve, you do realise that you have both the emblem for the parabats (Airborne) and 61 Mech Bn Gp on the vehicle. If you are going to set it in an ‘African’ setting, other than that of being ‘museum displayed’ (as it currently is), you’ll have to lose the Airborne insignia.
(From the
Sentinel Project) This is 61 Mechanised Infantry Battalion Group’s (the infantry part was later dropped) emblem:

PS: According to most 61 personal all the bats (Airborne) could do was ‘run and sing’. :-) :-) :-) :-)

Steve,
Looking bloody brilliant mate!
Found these pics on the IPMS SA site the other night...
These are apparently from the Armour School in Bloemfontein...
Eric,
LOL, "run & sing"? LOL, that's more than the (now disbanded) Marines ever did! :-) :-) :-)
