I am not sure if this counts but Band of Brothers is eccelent, alot better than saving private ryan. Das Boot is also very good.

I forgot one, it is not in the list but is a very good movie that shows how war can completly mess up everything you every knew, the pianist.

I loved the Pianist, Brody was such a good actor in that! I also loved that the German officer gave him a helping hand. I think it set an example that most of these guys aren't bad, which they werent they were just doing their job.

I thought one of the best military movies was "Garden of Stones". Also some others are "Once an Eagle" with Sam Elliot and the "Pentagon Wars".

My List is similar to yours really:
For WW2, its Savinf Private Ryan.
For more modern warfare, it would be Blackhawk Down.
Tears of the Sun isnt too bad either but it certainly cant compare with the first 2 i mentioned.
