Just wanted to announce to my international modeling club the early arrival of our new son: Brian Matthew Middleton at 6:40 p.m. on July 30. He was not due until September 20, but decided he could not wait any longer. He was seven weeks early, but weighed in at 5 pounds 4.8 ounces and 17 inches in length. He is in the NICU and will be there for about 2 weeks. He is breathing on his own and in very good shape for being so early. Mom did great and came home yesterday.

Allow me to be the first to give congrats to you and your wife. I wish my best to your son and hope he stays in good health, both in being early and on through his life.

Just don't introduce him to glue too soon

Congratulations mate. My own son was 5 weeks early, and spent nearly a month in SCBU (special care baby unit) being fed through a tube via his nose. They do grow normally from this disrupted start - Stuart is now 14 and equalling his dad's score round the golf course!

Keith,

My wife was a premie - going by that alone, he ought to turn out to be pretty special & just fine.

Congratulations Keith, it's wonderful that your son has taken his early start so well. My son was three month prem, and spend his first 2 months in an incubator, with the tubes and ventilator etc.. It's a difficult time, but all worth it when he comes in through your front door.
Shortly after which I might suggest the purchase of some earplugs... :-) :-)

Cheers

Congrats and glad to hear all are doing well...

and fairly big for being born so early...

smallest kid I have ever seen in real life (patient of my dad), though something like 15+ weeks early weighed (at the worst point) less then 2 lbs!

Most ironic (considering his size) was his name: William the Lion.

The kid survived without any damage/health problems....

I hope your son will he'll do his dad (okay, and his mom ) proud!

Thanks for all the support. I just got back from the hospital visiting Brian. He is doing very well, a few less tubes and monitors on him this morning. Yesterday they started him on breast milk and that went well and I got to feed him last night. Today they are increasing the amount he gets each three hours. It is looking good for him to come home in less than two weeks.

Hey what can he say, he wants to get building right away. Start him out a nice armor kit.

Congrats! Hope the mom is doing well, and I will keep the little guy in my thoughts!

Congratulations Kieth, I know how it is with a premie... Though when my son was born 10 weeks early we were shocked that he didn't need a respirator.( 18 inches and 7 lbs rounded up) I shudder to think how big he would have been at full term.lol

Love that little miracle, he'll do fine.
