Hi
....again I'm having problems uploading to my gallery.
I keep getting the unacceptable format message.

I've checked the image and its the right size, its rgb, I have enough room in my gallery allowance and its a jpg...???

Last time an image was accepted when I renamed it with a pre-fix of 1.
This time it won't go no matter what I call it.... and a few non acceptable names come to mind

HHHHEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!.........please..."going down over the pond".

Is there an advised name type these days?
The naughty image has been named...
1 Bv210 .jpg
1bv .jpg
1.jpg
and various other names all without success.

This seems to be a recent problem for me. The mind boggles.

Many thanks
Cheers
Peter

Hmmmmmm???
This is really strange...

I've just successfully uploaded the image in question to my workbench and it was accepted.
It's exactly the same image and image name that was rejected when I tried to add it to my gallery.

I'm going to go and lie down in a darkened room and contemplate the meaning of life...no....better still...I can catch the early bird opening hours at the cyber bar.

???????? I,m confused...even more than usual.
Cheers
Peter

Wierd... they both loaded fine for me with the names that you gave them...

the only thing i noted was that you named it "Doris 1.jpg" and when I uploaded it it was renamed "Doris_1.jpg".... maybe the space was the issue?

I also changed the name of "Doris 1" to "1" and when I uploaded it it was renamed to "19.jpg"...

Quite bizarre really... All I can suggest until the big guns read the post is to avoid spaces in the names and to try to keep them above 1 character and a max of 8 characters...

Hope that helps a bit...

Thanks Rudi
for your help.

It is weird. Last time it needed a 1 adding ahead of the name, this time at the end...???

But its really strange there's no problem if I upload to workbench but its a big problem uploading direct to my gallery, especially as when images are added to workbench they go into the gallery anyway...

So...BIG GUNS...where are you?

Thanks and cheers
Peter

Linux servers (like ours) *don't* like spaces. Personally I don't create file names or directories anymore that have spaces in them.

However there is another BIG thing that people who use Photoshop or other hi-end photo editors. JPGs can be either RGB or CMYK. I think Peter already mentioned that his were RGB so this is not his issue, but CMYK .jpg files will *not* work with internet browsers.

Peter - If you were able to upload it to the Workbench area then you should be able to upload to any area of the gallery. There is no difference.

Hi all!

I do have problems too! Altough not as serious as Flitzer's!

I uploaded pictures two days ago... no problem! I uploaded pictures today... and they appeared to have been compressed! It's quite noticable when you look at them. I didn't changed the settings in Photoshop and I tried several times again by uploading one picture at a time but... always lesser quality images...

It's not that important, but I wish everyone could see the maximum of details in my pics!

Thanks JIm...
a golden opportunity to explain a few things for the crew....

But in my case the same titled image was rejected when uploading to my gallery but went through seamlessly when adding to my workbench.
And I tried and tried and tried untill my button finger bled....big bandage now.... :-)

I'll keep you up to date ...next time I try.

Sorry to hear Jean-Luc is also blighted.

Cheers
Peter

Hmmm....well uploading them to your Workbench also displays them in your "My Photos" area. What gallery are you trying to upload them to?

Jean-Luc,
A simple way to prevent re-compressing of your images is to pre-size them below the 750 pixel wide or 600 tall maximums set in PhotoPost. If your image is below those it will not modify the image in any way (except to create a thumbnail).

Thanks Jim!

It worked! I have lost a few pixels on the process but the quality is much better!

I tried several times this morning and noticed one more thing! Maybe this could help Flitzer When uploading pictures, I always had to refresh my browser's page to actually see the new ones! I even deleted one picture, uploaded an other one with the same name and when clicking on the new thumbnail, saw the picture I had deleted??? Hit refresh and the new one appeard instead!
I think it's a problem with the browser's cache! Maybe sometimes Flitzer's pics DO upload but he can't see them until he refreshes his page!

By the way, I'm using a iMac 17" with Safari under OSX 10.2.8

Many thanks for your answer Jim!
