Marine corps General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio, and you haft to read his reply to the lady who interviewed him, concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about the gun laws, you gotta love this.

This is the best comeback lines of all times. It is a portion of the National Public Radio ( NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald, who was about to sponsor a boyscout troop visiting his military installation.

Female interviewer: So, General Reinwald what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base.

General Reinwald: We are going to teach them climbing, canoing, archery, and shooting.

Female interviewer: shooting, thats a tad bit irresponsible, isn't it.

General Reinwald: I don't see why, they will be properly supervised on the rifle range.

Female interviewer: Don't you admit that is terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

General Reinwald : I don't see how, we will be teaching them the proper rifle discipline, before they even touch a firearm.

Female interviewer : But, your equipping them to become violent killers.

General Reinwald : Well, your equipped to be a prostitute, but your not one, are you?

The radio went silent, and the interview ended, you gotta love the Marines.

It sure didn't burst my bubble, cause where I got it, I know 90% of the stuff you can't believe, and the other 10% you can't trust, but some times I run across a good joke, and I got a chuckle out of it, whether it happened or not didn't matter to me, it was funny.

Then I was hoping some of you would get a good laugh out of it, like I did, this is the junk drawer, not the truth drawer isn't it.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I genuinely thought that you thought that it was real.

I put it up for the humor, like these stories, they never are true, 99.9% of the time, but some of them sure are funny, and when I read that answer, it got me to laughing, so I wanted to spread the fun so others could read it, I never cared if there was a general, or even a Sargent with that name, or if it happened.

The joke was what I was going after, the shame of it is, our country is about the only one that hasn't seized our guns yet, but they are trying the best they can.

I'm for anything that will stop them, it has failed in all the other countries, crime rate is at the maximum sense they took the guns from the good citizens.

Look, I just can't accept that. let's put it this way!

If every law abiding person was allowed a gun to defend themselves from armed robbery it just wouldn't do! The Police would not have the time to persecu... er ... I mean prevent drivers for disobeyng minor road laws! Anarchy would errupt! etc.

:-) :-) :-)

Even better one (Sorry to the Bobbies).

A policeman with a radar gun was catching motorists speeding up in the North of Scotland when an RAF Tornado F3 came screaming fast and low through the mountains towards him. For fun he raised the Radar gun and took a reading of the Tornado...

As the radar gun zoomed up past the 500 Mph mark the Tornado weapons system reacted instantly to the "hostile" radar intercept and armed and prepared a missile for firing!

The crew barely managed to manually override the weapons system before the missile was released.

The Police appologised to the Royal Air Force.

Of course, that aint true either, but MAN, it makes a piggin' good story!

Wouldn't it be nice to get anti-radiation missiles as an option on your car?

In the UK nowadays you will be prosecuted by the law and sued by the burglar if you so much as cough in his direction.

DO NOT DO IT! It is dangerous and subverts his human rights!

I am against gun control. Taking away the lawfull means of purchasing and owning a firearm does nothing to stem the tide of the illegal flow of weapons.

ZZZguy, sorry but your argument has no logic to it. All weapons are meant to kill. what keeps them from killing is the person behind the trigger. Law-abiding Gun-owners are not the problem. the Gangbangers and the such are the problem. they are the ones that are always on the nightly news. You rarely if ever hear about the guy who had to kill a knife weilding attacker to protect his home. Personally I would be more afraid of the hand gun than the shot gun. because the shotgun (lets say pump action for sake of argument) will take longer to reload than a semi-auto handgun.

BTW last year Fully automatic weapons were used in LESS THAN 1 PERCENT of all violent crimes in the US.

Rant over.....

you guys need to be very careful with this thread,

it appears to be going down the current events path.

Gun control is a contoversial issue, so lets make sure we arent going to upset anyone.

As for Alabama, here you have to keep the gun "consealed on your person" according to the permit. So, this is where the handgun comes into play with the law. You don't have to have a permit for rifels or shotguns kept in your home. Of course in most gunshops, you usually have to show a permit to buy a gun.

American citizens have the right to bear arms,,,to protect themselves and their property. It may not be the best system on the planet, but it's our way of doing things.

As for this thread offending some or being locked down, it amazes me that a website that is as dependendent on war and guns in history, would ask it's members not to talk openly about gun ownership, rights and current wars that are ongoing.

Kev,

im well aware of this, all i am saying is some people wont share your views, and its an unfortunate fact that sometimes threads such as this get hijacked and spiral into arguements.

dont want to see it happen thats all!

-and for the record, i thought the marines joke was pretty funny

Redirecting the thread back to the original joke... I'll bet even if it wasn't said for real a lot of people would have wanted to say it to that obviously partial reporter
