Lately I have been in a modeling slump, actually for the last month. I started and halfway finished a 1/48 B-29. Put that aside.

I was also working on a P-38, got halfway done painting that. Started a "Rufe", "Nate" and a ship and threw those to the side. Did I mention my basement is hot and humid. I work all night and sleep all day.

Question is, should I start something new again, or relax a bit longer.

I never used to be this way, is this modelers block?

Thanks guys!

~Chip

Go do something totally different for a day or two. Come back and build something OOTB and just get it together to feel like you've accomplished a complete kit.

Chip, buddy. Try a different venue. Do an armor model or a race car.
That's what I do.
I'm sorry your working conditions suck. I wish I had an answer for ya on that subject.

Don't feel bad... I'm been a bit in the dumps myself the last week or so...... most modelling related things I've done has been check in here, chatted with a few folks on line, and stare at some figures I'll never finish before the end of the campaign I'm entered in........... Hell, haven't even touched a model all week at work....... I guess a figureless dio is coming up.....
Ohhhhhh Huummmmmmm

Been in much of a slump for the past few weeks... guess college took more out of me then I though it would...

Today I started again... used my airbrush for the first time... looking forward to so some more modelling tomorrow.

But don't worry, it will come back to you... it seems like the more you want the modellingbug to come back, the longer it takes...

I know and feel your pain. I got models stacking up, half builded hummer half builded figrues. Most of this is due to my daughter and her x-husband splitsville and we watch the grand kids 5-6 nights a week. hard to build with a two year and a four year asking questions and grabing at everything. Sometimes they sleep over and that means, oh well i would go there. they usually even are around when i am on the site just trying to relax. #:-)

take a breather for a little while, then buy an A/C or Dehumidifier for the basement!

Hi Chip...
Don't panic, it happens to us all, even the most model-besotted, from time to time.

Just find something else to do...just for a change.

I'm in the middle of a slump also...but its not a bad time to slump as I'm in the middle of packing.
Plus doing the profiles for the Luft 46 series goes a long way to satisfying the modelling urge.

I tend to think of a slump as a train journey and you've reached the end of the line. Just wait for the next train...it'll be a long soon.

Of course you could just grab a beer and chil out till the ole modelling juices flow again. But don't model under the influence.....

Cheers
Peter

If you have to force yourself, it's no longer a hobby ....
Lighten up ...

It happens all the time.
I either switch models (you've done that) or I go re-open the reference books on those items I'm building and see if that doesn't re-inspire me. If not, I just go do something else for a while -- it is a hobby.

One thing that doesn't work is opening dozens of kits & flitting about thru them hoping one gets me inspired ....

Right now, I'm in the post-IPMS Nats build crisis cool-off period, so I'm cleaning my work area, organizing references, doing research on a few new projects, making lists of things to fix/do on current ones, and every once in a while, I grab some sandpaper & fiddle with something then put it down. Spent most of weekend on the porch with wifey watching the world go by ...
